The New Twilight Zone continues to intrigue and frighten audiences with a second season, even while undergoing massive changes. After a disastrous timeslot change and poor ratings, CBS switched the format of the show midseason to half-hour 1 story episodes, and then back again to hour 2 story episodes in order to burn them off after putting the show on an extended hiatus. However, the writers still managed to put out quality work, such as “The Once and Future King,” “The After Hours” (a remake), “The World Next Door,” and “The Card.” There are also a number of impressive guest stars; Tom Skerritt, Terry Farrell, George Wendt, William Atherton, and Gina Gershon. Yet despite delivering consistent chills, CBS’s ‘80s revival of The Twilight Zone came to a quick end in its second season as problems on and off set hastened its demise.
