The Morning Show: Season 2

2x05 Ghosts

Maybe the weakest episode of the season, very light on the twists and reveals, even on the future build ups (like Janko's scene). It has a lot of moralizing though, in small part from Mitch as he comes to terms with what he had done, Cory as he struggles whether to throw Bradley and Laura under the bus to save as much as Hannah's memory as his own ass, maybe even a teeny-tiny bit of revenge/jealousy because of their affair (I would have bet a lot of money at the start of the season to guess Cory loves Bradley), but largely this episode probably goes for Alex. Jennifer Aniston is pushing Alex full throttle into a(nother?) breakdown while trying to untangle her past. It might not be a coincidence that Mitch is the one who comes clean and also turns out to be the one who didn't talk about Alex, while Alex is going mad, unable to move on and trying to make it look like the past didn't happen as it did (or she just conveniently forgot about it), making full contrast with Mitch. On a second thought, maybe this wasn't weak at all.

We all know that Alex has secrets and there's a lot of them and now in this season, we are watching her guilt overcome exponentially that which affects her coming back to the job. And I love every moment where we watch her drown for the sins she did. True karma.

No idea why people didn't like this episode.
Mitch's summary of his story is excellent.
Cory is maybe a bit too good to be a realistic character in such a position, I always enjoy him nevertheless.
And Alex' denial and mental breakdown was pretty well done too.

So, as always, the glamour of sudden heroism slowly peels off, and what's left are pretty dirty secrets... both Alex and Cory threaten to be drowned by them.
