[6.3/10] Well, it’s another broad, sitcom-y episode of this show. I did like Taco’s behind the scenes wedding video, and the structure of how it basically destroyed everyone’s life. Everything else was scattershot at best, with the episode trying to give everyone distinct stories and none of it coming together.
Peter running into Meegan and trying to sabotage/upstage her new boyfriend at the anniversary party is sub-Home Improvement nonsense. The same goes with Taco unwittingly strongarming Ruxin into an expensive anniversary party, which is a generic sitcom bit. And Ruxin having to eat the urinal cake was just gross, though I at least appreciate that the show set it up earlier in the sandwich place.
I did mildly enjoy the bits about Andre being a “girlfriend chameleon” (something Parks and Rec did and did better), and him dating a “deep googler” produced a few good gags. The birthday/anniversary standoff between Jenny and Sofia was, again, a pretty hacky setup, but Kevin’s insincere toast being exposed, and Jenny thinking the chaos produced her best birthday ever was a good payoff to it all.
Overall, this is another episode of the show that feels like a slightly raunchier, single-cam version of a CBS comedy, which is not a good place to be in, but the behind-the-scenes video and Jenny material makes up for it at least a little.
