This compilation is from a commercially released (but long out of print) 'Best Of' VHS. Released by Braveworld in 1993, it pretty much captures all the fun and mayhem from the first year of the show. Presented by Chris Evans and Gaby Roslin, with Paula Yates, Zig & Zag, Peter Smith (News) and Mark Lamarr and Paul Ross (both on Outside Broadcast).

This the first ever edition of Channel 4's 'The Big Breakfast' presented by Chris Evans and Gaby Roslin. Reading the news is Peter Smith. Paula Yates's first 'On the Bed' interview is with Joanna Lumley. Broadcast on Monday 28 September 1992. The first half-hour exists elsewhere on YouTube but this is the full show. However I've had to make a couple of edits for copyright reasons: I've deleted the 'Dennis' cartoon and due to a problem on an earlier upload of this programme I've muted the opening theme tune. I hope this doesn't spoil your enjoyment too much.

The relaunch of The big Breakfast from September 1996. Presented by rick Adams, Sharron Davies, Denise Van Outen, Peter Smith, Vanessa Feltz and Zig & Zag. Special guest, Andie Macdowell The 1996 Big Breakfast relaunch is now cemented in history as being an unmitigated disaster. However, I do think that people somewhat look at it from the wrong perspective. I have to hold my hand up and say that I was horrified by it when it was originally broadcast. I was most upset about the destruction of the lovely Grade II Lock Keepers Cottages (Which I was once told on a visit to the house that the work had been carried out without permission and the council were furious.). Rick was a second rate Chris Evans impersonator (Sorry Rick.), Sharron demonstrated that she could indeed go out of her depth (Sorry Sharron.) and the whole thing had been completely stripped of its punkish anarchic fun, replaced by a dull middle class lifestyle magazine. But I think you have to look at what had brought the show to that point. Chris Evans' departure was the pivotal force behind its rapid demise. The Big Breakfast was, essentially, the Chris Evans show. And there's not a lot you can do to fill that gap. You can put any other talent you like into the role, but they'll never be that one vital thing; Chris Evans. So, it trundled on with a succession of have-a-bash-at-it substitutes, managing to just about keep it going by relying on its next biggest strength Gaby Roslin. But when Gaby left, the situation became critical. By this point it was not only lacking Chris Evans, but was being rivalled by the self same man on Radio 1. But the show was still very much styled with Chris's creations. The catchphrases, the humour, just the whole show really. And every element, the look, the content, all was looking really dated. The Wedding Show
Johnny Vaughan returns to the Big Breakfast house after his summer holidays and the house has had a makeover and they have a new newsreader (Jasmine Lowson). He was due to present this week with Lisa Rogers before Denise van Outen returned the following Monday. This didn't happen as he hurt his back and didn't present any other editions this week at all. Edits to avoid copyright claims 01:18:30 - There is a Removed clip of 'Waking the Dead' Pilot. Interestingly, the clip included a single use of the word "bollocks". This went unremarked.

If I dare say it, I didn't actually find Jenny McCarthy to be at all good on The Big Breakfast. She was hailed as the greatest thing to ever happen to the show, but I just found her loud, incoherent and annoying.
On Friday 12 January 2001, exactly five years to the day since Gaby Roslin had exited both Johnny Vaughan and Denise van Outen's hosted their final episode of The Big Breakfast. This episode starts with a parade commentated by Christopher Biggins of all Johnny and Denise's favourite guests. Numerous celebrities are in the house this morning. Richard Bacon announces the winner of the competition to win Johnny's shed. In 'Mind Your Manners' etiquette expert Drusilla Beyfus helps Johnny navigate through some modern scenarios. The last ever Vital Statistics. SLAGNIFICO! The real Elvis is in the house. The Page 3 girls trio Vanilla Thriller perform their version of 'Mahna Mahna'. In 'Johnny's Angels' he pays tribute to Liza Tarbuck. Elvis Costello performs 'Pump it Up' in the garden. (He also played at Johnny's wedding IRL). Denise and Johnny take a look at the mornings headlines. Biggins picks a winner from the tombola for an audience member to take a trip to the island in Fiji used in the film Castaway. Johnny presents his final round of 'Gaggin' For It'. Finally Johnny and Denise give their thanks to cast and crew, and a tribute to the pair is played before ending in a garden sing-a-long. The 3rd Till Last Episode - Ooh ya!! I remember that incident during the Last Choice Holidays item, fifteen minutes in. I've talked about this in forum chats before. It was absolutely brutal. Whatever went on backstage, Richard Bacon should not have dealt with it on air in the manner he did, IMO. I honestly believe that's one of the most savage things I've ever seen broadcast on TV, certainly in a light entertainment show. I appreciate that The Big Breakfast had always been presented in a style which drew upon the personal lives of the hosts to some degree, chatting about what they got up to at the weekend and whatnot, but I really don't think he should have brought that in to the show. That was something to be dealt with privately. That poor girl, she didn't deserve that. She was clearly holding back tears. How she didn't get up and thump him one, I'll never know. There was an element of nastiness in the humour during the final year.
