The Bear: Season 1

1x08 Braciole

Sometimes a show is so fucking good you don’t want it to end.

Genuinely, I was just so glad to see them smiling at the end.

My take on it was once Mikey realized he was going to kill himself he decided to start saving money to give to Carmy. One he thought he had enough he placed it in tomato cans so the people he owes money too couldn’t get it and then took his own life.

In episode 7, Carmy was an asshole to Sydney and Marcus, but they also were assholes to him. It was kinda lame that they put all the guilt at him and stayed quiet while he apologizes.

Jeremy Allen White is delivering some outstanding work, really the whole cast and crew is. A great season finale for a great show.

I thought it was too of a happy ending. But I guess the writers never bet on having a second season so they gave the audience one after all they've gone through.

So what do you make with a hundred cans of crushed tomatoes? Lot's of spaghetti sauce and a whole new life.

Richies development over these 8 short episodes is pretty damn great. He goes from the absolute asshole who's still blowing through life with zero respect for those around him, to less of an insufferable asshole that's started taking culpability for this actions. He digs deep, apologises and finally let's go of his ego and the past that he revers to finally grow and improve as a person. So good, and I look forward to seeing how he grows in Part II.

My original plan was to break down each character and how I appreciated their journey but I feel it's just limiting me from firing ahead and watching Season 2. That is to say, this is a fantastic first season of TV and it has solidified itself to me as one of the greats. Let's see where the ride takes us next.

magnificent monologue at the beginning, cant wait for s2!

This was the most vintage HBO-style show I've seen for years, right down to the penultimate episode being the season finale and the final episode setting up the next season. It was relentless and powerful, and despite the short episodes, managed to show a large cast of characters with whom it was easy to empathise.

I'm resolutely Team Sydney, who is the Skyler White of this show, judging by the comments on here.

I look forward to season 2. It was only in the closing credits of the final episode that the title finally made sense.

For the intensity each episode had, it sometimes felt too overdone because with the shorter episodes it was almost forced. In the end it is all earned with this wonderful finale, really hoping for season 2

Hiding money inside tomato sauce cans in a restaurant kitchen which frequently uses tomato sauce seems like a horrible plan… But then again I guess he was a drug addict? Seems like a lot of effort too, since you'd have to convincingly reseal each can. Plus the health code violations involved… oooweee.

love that almost every episodes felt different from each other but it was still a cohesive season. and this episode was also filled with so many gold moment. the intro, carmy's monologue, Marcus and Sydney's chat over tea, Richie's phone call and the end (!!). after hectic moments in my restaurant and the kitchen, especially last episode, it was nice to see them have a soft, simple moment just for them. the callbacks were also well done. it's nice to know Micheal didn't really left Carmen alone.

Watching that happy hopeful ending while Let Down, a devastating and not so hopeful song, was playing in the background gave me quite the cognitive dissonance. Beautiful episode, at the end I was crying so much. Mike's story makes me so sad...

the 10 minute long monologue reminded me of Free Churro iykyk I guess

man that scene of Carmy and Richie in the car... "you're all I got, cousin" bro
