Since the beginning of the 'Golden Age of Television', we have so many masterpieces, that it is easy for shows to go unnoticed. As this is one of my favorite TV shows that is still running, I hate to say that this show has gone under the radar. The series is produced by FX. The network is known for producing shows like Fargo, American Horror story and Sons of Anarchy. The Americans is centered around Phillip and Elizabeth Jennings, two seemingly normal suburban parents living in Washington DC in the early 1980's, during the Cold War. The couple are actually KGB agents, working undercover. They have two children, Page, their daughter, and their son Henry, who are unaware or their identity. The theme of the two hiding their real job from their children is one of the most thrilling aspects of the show.
Unfortunately, their neighbor is an FBI agent. We also regularly visit his exciting, and at times, complicated plot. The show is great at character development, in the sense that we see the characters get more/less merciless and brutal as the seasons go on. My personal favorite of the couple, Phillip, sometimes questions his job, and the impact it'll have on their children. His wife, Elizabeth, is a lot more dedicated to the cause. This creates the opportunity for conflict in their marriage, and their line of work, which is very thrilling to bear witness to.
Although Phillip and Elizabeth are anti-heroes, and have committed terrible acts, you can't help but want the best for them. You enjoy the scenes where their family is getting along, you cheer when they avoid the grasp of the FBI. You also grow a sense of respect for the two, because of their devotion to the cause. They go to great lengths to not getting caught, and to protect their colleagues. Despite them being undercover agents, working for the Soviet Union, you can't help but like them.
Like any show, it does have some downsides. Sometimes the plot can go a little off track, and there are quite a few side plots you have to get to know. The positives definitely outweigh the negatives.

I am in the middle of the first season but I gonna say: this show is so good !
Since The Walking Dead is getting more and more boring, Homeland's season is over, and Breaking Bad's final season is starting in July I was looking for a TV Show which is exiting, got a central theme in it. Where you get surprised and the acting is good.
A TV show which is realistic and dangerous.
I found all of it with this show!
Since this TV Show is about the cold war I want to compare it with James Bond, and the second reason is I don't want to put spoilers in it:
I am pretty sure you know the older James Bond movies, where Bond is jumping of a cliff with no parachute, into a plane, gets control over the plane, destroying the enemy's base and got no scratches. Superhero Bond. No problems.
And then you know the newer Bond movies with Daniel Craig. Where Bond has problems. He's a drinker. Getting hurt, Getting scratches, simply more realistic.
If you know what I mean, then you know who the show is like.
Two KGB agents who are in the US for some years. Got two children. Have to live their whole life under disguise, which living a FBI Agent next door.
They like in some way there life as normal people and they do like in some way the people of America. But in their point of view the US government is evil. They what to build a anti-missile defense system (google Star Wars Bush), which would make the nuclear arsenal of Russia worthless. And they have to do something against that.
Lets see how the show develops. 9/10
