Keri Russell's emotionally stoic approach to her character contrasted with Matthew Rhy's emotive soul searching was such a refreshing take on the typical male-centric troupe. Plus..."Felicity" kicking ass & taking numbers? Yes, please.
I highly doubt I was ever so captivated by a TV show. This. Is. Gold.
Great series, but please get rid of the Paige character; she’s nauseating, boring, and a great time waster. Kill her off
Simply put this is an absolute masterpiece from start to finish. Finished almost two years ago now and I can't stop thinking about it. Might be time for a rewatch.
The one piece of my life that I still hold onto for dear life is enjoying great TV shows. When all else goes to shit, as life has shrunk and shrunk, I've always had them. They help me feel connected and free.
I just finished watching The Americans and it didn't disappoint. Amazing show. Highly highly recommend.
When good shows like that end and it's been like six seasons, I always feel some sense of grief afterwards - I'll miss the characters and their world.
It's kind of sad but I become so close to them they must create some sense of family or something - some sense of connection. (edited)
(For context, I've been sick with minimised life for quite some time)
One of the best shows out there. Elizabeth & Philip have the most intense, complex relationship I've ever seen explored on screen, it was so fascinating to watch their story develop. But actually there are a lot of interesting dynamics between different characters on the show, which are as intense as all the spying and fighting. The show has some boring moments and the kids can be obnoxious, but in all it will stay with you for a long time after you've finished watching the last episodes.
an impressive artistic quality. I just watched the last episode and I already feel like a lack.
OH MY GOD! One episode in and I AM HOOKED. I am anticipating an epic binge coming. And on side note, loving the interactive Amazon Prime Video interface.
I am in the middle of the first season but I gonna say: this show is so good !
Since The Walking Dead is getting more and more boring, Homeland's season is over, and Breaking Bad's final season is starting in July I was looking for a TV Show which is exiting, got a central theme in it. Where you get surprised and the acting is good.
A TV show which is realistic and dangerous.
I found all of it with this show!
Since this TV Show is about the cold war I want to compare it with James Bond, and the second reason is I don't want to put spoilers in it:
I am pretty sure you know the older James Bond movies, where Bond is jumping of a cliff with no parachute, into a plane, gets control over the plane, destroying the enemy's base and got no scratches. Superhero Bond. No problems.
And then you know the newer Bond movies with Daniel Craig. Where Bond has problems. He's a drinker. Getting hurt, Getting scratches, simply more realistic.
If you know what I mean, then you know who the show is like.
Two KGB agents who are in the US for some years. Got two children. Have to live their whole life under disguise, which living a FBI Agent next door.
They like in some way there life as normal people and they do like in some way the people of America. But in their point of view the US government is evil. They what to build a anti-missile defense system (google Star Wars Bush), which would make the nuclear arsenal of Russia worthless. And they have to do something against that.
Lets see how the show develops. 9/10
Renewed for seasons 5 and 6!
I rarely buy newer seasons of shows versus waiting for hulu buy this is one of the few I caved in on.
Amazing twisted storyline and such vivid personalities make the series pop. The atmosphere is just spot on and acting is perfect.
A few wonderful episodes and runs of episodes, and one of the finest series finales I’ve seen, but I found the series overall to be plagued by a lack of planning. Too often, a major new direction was established only at the beginning of the episode that made use of it. At the same time, threads that had been on the go for some time as well as apparent turning points in the plot were suddenly dropped, only to be picked up again in a half-hearted fashion seasons later. Worse, in the later seasons there emerged a reliance on rewriting the show’s history.
But somehow it still captivated me to an extent and certainly I never seriously considered abandoning it. Would like to rewatch sometime down the track.
This show is absolutely amazing. I loved it from the very first episode. I've heard about it before but i was a bit skeptical because i didn't really know what is it even about, until i decided to check it out. Season 3 finale left me on the edge of my seat, especially last minutes. A MUST WATCH.
The writers of this show have some bizarre ability to consistently write absolutely terrible season finales. I'm impressed by their commitment to writing good seasons but ending them on such poor finales.
THIS! This is why Peak TV is peaking. Not many times I have seen a show going from 7/10 to 10/10. And I do not mean 7/10 as an offense, because there was already something in season 1 I couldn't properly put into words, but I felt something big about it. And as it developed, it quickly became a darn masterpiece.
Loved the show. I like spy movies and the 80's. So perfect.
I miss this show every day.
Just had to say, this is my favorite show on television right now. followed closely by House of Cards. Between these two shows I haven't had time for anything else! Back to back to back to back.
The Americans is hands down the best show on TV right now. Such a perfect show from start to (hopefully) finish. I think we are pretty lucky to be getting six seasons of this beauty! 10/10
Awsome show.I was captivated from the start.
Some episodes and scenes can get pretty damn boring but overall it's a decent show. Wouldn't say its 2013's best though..
Started well, built the characters superbly. Some tremendous set pieces with unbearable tension interspersed with "ordinary" life. Brilliant period detail. Every actor was excellent in their part from the main characters down to some excellent cameos. And they absolutely nailed the ending. A criminally underrated show that everybody should see,
took me years to finish, yes, but it's my fault as always. 10/10 from season 1 to 6. and what a finale...
A show about nothing and I didn’t even learn any Russian.
In a list of perfect shows, this would easily make it into the top 3. It really doesn't get any better than this masterpiece.
I will miss this show! It has everything in it. In my opinion, it is really underrated. Great drama and performances by the actors! I loved it all.
Mhmhm, I'm actually bored af. Maybe you have to be an American to find this interesting, Idk.
enyojed season 1 to 4. got bored midway of season 5.
this show was highly recommended but I didn't enjoy it
Honestly one of the absolute best shows I've ever seen.
It's so sad. show will be final end in 6th season :(
I came late to this show, but from the depths of the storylines, the individual personalities and struggles of the characters and the realisms of the show's 80's/Cold War-universe, it has quickly made it to the top of my Favorite list.
Since the beginning of the 'Golden Age of Television', we have so many masterpieces, that it is easy for shows to go unnoticed. As this is one of my favorite TV shows that is still running, I hate to say that this show has gone under the radar. The series is produced by FX. The network is known for producing shows like Fargo, American Horror story and Sons of Anarchy. The Americans is centered around Phillip and Elizabeth Jennings, two seemingly normal suburban parents living in Washington DC in the early 1980's, during the Cold War. The couple are actually KGB agents, working undercover. They have two children, Page, their daughter, and their son Henry, who are unaware or their identity. The theme of the two hiding their real job from their children is one of the most thrilling aspects of the show.
Unfortunately, their neighbor is an FBI agent. We also regularly visit his exciting, and at times, complicated plot. The show is great at character development, in the sense that we see the characters get more/less merciless and brutal as the seasons go on. My personal favorite of the couple, Phillip, sometimes questions his job, and the impact it'll have on their children. His wife, Elizabeth, is a lot more dedicated to the cause. This creates the opportunity for conflict in their marriage, and their line of work, which is very thrilling to bear witness to.
Although Phillip and Elizabeth are anti-heroes, and have committed terrible acts, you can't help but want the best for them. You enjoy the scenes where their family is getting along, you cheer when they avoid the grasp of the FBI. You also grow a sense of respect for the two, because of their devotion to the cause. They go to great lengths to not getting caught, and to protect their colleagues. Despite them being undercover agents, working for the Soviet Union, you can't help but like them.
Like any show, it does have some downsides. Sometimes the plot can go a little off track, and there are quite a few side plots you have to get to know. The positives definitely outweigh the negatives.
Plot- 4
How it tells the story- 4
Characters- 4
Acting- 5
Overall- 17/20
This show for me gives us a journey which is both very well fashioned and believable and breath takingly good in all that this show delivers on imo a must watch show and a masterpiece in the making.
Superb show. I don't think there's another one like it. Thrilling without the gung-ho action.
Were you guys able to add this show in series guide app if u guys r using it?
Excellent actors, top notch directing, well written plots, authentic atmosphere and great music from the era. Everything a show needs to make it addictive. It is not as fast paced as many other "crime thriller" shows, but it is very much a nail biter. I can't wait for season 4!
Great series, can not wait untill the 4th season begins
Excelente guión, actuaciones brillantes, roles principales y secundarios de gran desarrollo. Recomendada
Excellent show, Philip and Elizabeth are strong and interesting and multi layered characters. "The Americans" does very good job at immersing the viewer in the shows world. I hope they will continue to season 3
Es muy buenaaa!!!
If you like the history, WWII and the cold war it's absolutely recommended!
Muy buena! Mejor que homeland sin duda.
Blowjob in first two minutes. Lol
Pretty sad really! And pussy said less than a minute later.
So this is what tv has become. Pos!
This show is excellent. With a great cast thrust into a spy thriller unlike none seen before. You find yourself rooting for the bad guys who are the lead characters in this series. The compelling season 1 draws you into each episodes "Mission Impossible" dynamics. I predict "Emmy" nomanations for this clever outstanding program.
Kerri Russell is brilliant.
I'm obsessed with Keri Russell! Great show!
We just started this series and I'm already obsessed!! Love Keri Russell in this serious & action packed show! Def recommend this show!!
Are you guys still watching it? I've skipped the last two (the ultimate test, ignore it and see if you'll miss it and you know it) and I haven't missed it at ALL. Has anyone else dropped it?
