Sadly season 3 is borderline unwatchable. The show has becomes so dull and predictable with the politics there's just no time left for actual character building and solid story lines. I think I'm done.
Season 3 of Ted lasso is stretching its concept beyond breaking point. Side characters taking over the runtime with boring plot points, preachy political/social messages constantly and overly sentimental soppy dialogue. Why did the episode runtimes need to be so long this season? The breezy 30 min episodes of earlier seasons were easy watching but the show struggles to fill 45min to hour long plus stretched runtimes with anything interesting.
The finale does at least mostly stick the landing, but thank god they decided to end it now and didn't drag it out longer. 5/10.
We're three seasons in and the team is still bad at the sport. The sport aspect of the show is pretty disappointing by now and it feels a little to Talk no Jutsu while just spinning in place. Quality performances, directing etc. Solid on a technical level at the least.
[tv+] "Ted Lasso" has had a bad time playing in the Premier League. The ambition to want to be a prestige comedy with a checklist on social issues (refugees, homosexuality, privacy...) has resulted in a long season, with inflated episodes, lazy plots and a redemption arc that it didn't need. From a fun and enjoyable sitcom in S1, to a failed but sometimes successful S2, the story has been walking towards the precipice of a pretentious series that desperately seeks to be more transcendent than it is.
Since the second season, the series has veered increasingly toward romantic entanglements and sappy plotlines, sacrificing some of its earlier charm and wit. Episodes are juicier and more team-focused, but the writing lacks the spark of inspiration seen in the first run of episodes, often resorting to contrived and mechanical plot developments happening just because it was convenient for the characters' journey at that point. Changes often occur abruptly and without any buildup whatsoever. This is particularly evident in Keeley's relationships (blah), and the complete mishandling of Nate's highly anticipated subplot, which fails to deliver on its promising setup. Ultimately, it felt like the characters just got something random to do for this season before being abruptly brought back to the status quo with a couple of excuses.
The extended episode length can be both a blessing and a curse. It allows for a deeper exploration of team dynamics and moments of inspired writing, but it also runs the risk of dragging out when focusing on the bland storylines. Additionally, the inclusion of "thematic" episodes feels forced, with a different character each time serving as a puppet to yell out social issues that definitely needed a more organic and in-depth exploration.
Overall, the season offers moments of enjoyment and payoff, but it ultimately falls short of its potential, leaving viewers longing for the tighter storytelling and fresh humor that made the first season shine.
Zava is good. Make a spin off with Zava scoring goals only
Some bits we could’ve done without like the focus being too much on Keeley and Nate but ultimately, I loved the ending. I loved the relationship that developed between Ted, Coach and Roy and of course Roy’s inauguration into The Diamond Dogs and being opposed to it for so long. It wasn’t soppy but happy everyone got their happy ending no matter where they were, what they were doing or who it was with. I’m going to miss Ted Lasso..
I know a few people didn’t like this season and I do understand its highs are not as high as those frome the previous two but I wonder if it’s also a matter of too much hype. Because I kinda got what I wanted from it: a few more hours with characters I love, one or two beautifule episodes (Amsterdam!), lots of laughs, some strong emotions and a lot of good work on ancillary characters (which is what matters: as Ted says, he wasn’t the point).
It was time for this to end. Extremely predictable and started to get a bit preachy.
I don't think watching this series was a waste of time, but they moved away from the actual draw of the show which was interesting, clever, and comical characters, in favor of championing social issues. That's fine when it's done in a way that truly aligns with the story, but it felt like the story was written specifically to highlight social issues. By the end it had completely cashed in all the goodwill it had accumulated over the previous seasons.
Disappointing.
I definitely enjoyed this last season. Some episodes were better than others, but overall a good showing with lots of laugh-out-loud moments. It’s always hard to live up to previous seasons with a funny show like this one. I think we could have seen a little more evolution in the styling of the female cast members- I always love the fashion component of shows when done well.
Awkward season. Preachy. Stick to what your good at. Also, never delete your nudes when you break up

For me, season 3 of Ted Lasso is an example of the individual parts being greater than the whole. This comes with the exception of Ted, who we see go on a great arc this season (a lot of which playing subtly in the background), regarding his ultimate decision at the end of the season and what leads to that decision. I thought the character work they give him is paced nicely from start to finish. As for the other characters, they have great individual moments, but the show also spent a lot of time commenting on real-world issues and it felt like this took priority over the overall story in some ways. And the messaging this season is what I mean by the individual parts being greater than the whole. They chose to comment on a lot of different issues episode to episode, almost like they took each episode as an opportunity to comment on some sort of relevant topic. Each commentary they went for was executed very well within each episode, as far as I'm concerned. The themes they commented on were properly understood and the execution was very tasteful, but they just spread themselves too thin by trying to do so much. The first season felt focused on Ted's ability to inspire and change the hearts and minds of these people, the second season felt pretty focused on mental health in sports, and this season crammed in so many different ideas that it ended up being a little too overstuffed. I think this resulted in a finale that was mostly emotionally satisfying, but felt somewhat rushed since they could've spent more time building to all of the character interactions and relational payoffs we get in that last episode. I'm conflicted because I like that this show has the courage to comment on so many relevant touchy subject and comment on them well, but I just wanted more of a focused narrative. I don't think the show has been able to reach the heights it achieved in the first season, but this a fantastic season of TV nonetheless.
8.9 // Great
Season 3 is probably better than season 2 which I didn't appreciate. They must have realized that they need better story lines, more serious topics, more of the girls and way less stereotypes about supposedly cozy England (or Europeans in general). It's still not about soccer. It's still not showing believable soccer. It's still not extremely hilarious. In part that has to do with the fact that this show is totally innocuous. Shallow Hollywood BS. Cleaned from anything that's too edgy for polished Apple+. And the few stories that are perhaps interesting and relevant (depression, anxiety, homosexuality in pro sports) are touched only very superficially. The show still fails to tell long story lines. It tried. Yes. But most story lines lead to nothing or got a hastily added ending in the last two episodes. Some key moments even happen off-screen. Why?
But it's still an enjoyable show. Often it creates a cozy (or should I say "gezellig") feeling like not many other shows. Sometimes you wish that professional soccer is like the Richmond family. This show should end here. For good. It has nothing to tell.
As i said before, wasn't the best season so far, but still they did great job, and even there were some low episodes for me, they know very well how to get me back to love this series, it's just so beautiful
Yah i wish they could make better final season
But I'm thankful for what they have done
It's beautiful as they have done it before
And a happy ending is something u get at the end
Well, this is it then. Hate to see this show go, but I really appreciate that they stopped after they finished the story they wanted to tell. A little part of me will always hope that we see Ted Lasso return in one form or another. This show will always be special: it made me laugh, it made me cry and it even shoved Ajax into the story in the last season. I want nothing more. Also love the fact that they didn't make Richmond the champion of the Premier League, that would be a bit too much. This was a perfect ending for this show. Gonna miss Ted and the boys.
I think all the comments on the season was early one episode or two.
The show did mothership jump and it is by far the best season and a great time to end it. One episode to go, more laughter than other "super comedies". The episode with the strings was hilarious!
How is this show still on TV

Be warned: this show has straight relationships. There's actually men and women who love each other, I can't believe they are pushing this agenda. Can't we just keep politics out of these shows?
