Meh! Meh meh and a bit more meh. Really disappointed. Maybe I'd like it if it wasn't sold as a Star Trek series which it's just not.
I hope they replace this stale bread lead actor as she is weighing the show down. So emotionless and vapid. They always say the exact line of dialogue to move the plot along. Oh god, the fight scene. PLEASE MAKE THIS STOP.
fuck this my ass hurts
Yeah, I've seen this coming. Sometimes, the Captain seems to be a nice-one, sometimes he sends his admiral and friend to death so he can continue being Captain.
Oh my god, the story is sooo deep! Nah, he's just an ass.
And what incredible things has Discovery done so far in the war? They've saved a colony and an ambassador who was supposed to die. Good, but no fate turning action.
They should've stayed on the Jupiter station and test their drive there...
And Michael is, of course, an INCREDIBLE officer because she accidently happened to have a mental connection to a pessenger on a ship in distress. Furtunate, but no achievement.
If military worked like this, that Jamaican girl from season 1 of "The Last Ship" would've become bridge officer too because she happened to be immune against the Red Flu...
Surely a reason to get a promotion!
This has become predictible and boring. That's very bad for a show in its 1st season
The only real problem I have with this show is that it‘s supposed to be a prequel. That doesn’t make any sense. As stated in previous reviews the fact that they decided to give Discovery tech that doesn’t show up until TNG makes me wonder if the creators didn’t know any better or didn‘t care enough. In any case they could have easily put Discovery in TNG era in a different quadrant, a new enemy and no one would have said bleep. Making this pre-TOS and expecting the fans to just overlook the super tech is at best naive.
That episode didn´t work that much because we already know Sarek doesn´t die. If we are in the same universe that is ;-)
And did Lorca really sacrifies an Admiral to keep his command or did he just exploit the situation ?
7/10
Good
A VERY NICE EPISODE INDEED
AND I APPRECIATE THE CALMER
GROUNDED EPISODE BEFORE WE GET BACK TO THE FATE OF THE UNIVERSE STUFF.
GIVES US AND THE CREW A LITTLE DOWN TIME TO TAKE CARE OF MORE PERSONAL ISSUES.
I LOVE MICHAEL AND I'M SO GLAD
EVERYTHING REVOLVES AROUND
HER, IT WAS A SMART DECISION
AS WE REALLY BUILD UP A
CONNECTION FOR HER AND
WE ALWAYS HAVE SOMEONE TO
ROOT FOR.
I do love how this show takes every idea
of all the other star treks and grows
and expands on them and makes
them better and way cooler.
And The Discovery has the coolest tec ever,
I LOVE it and it's only going to get
so much cooler and more awesome
as we trek along.
Trust me.
If you say her species is inferior, does that make yours superior? Superior in what? in arrogance sure
So we now have the forced heterosexual thing on star trek now :(
Committing suicide and killing your own kind are the 2 most illogical things to do in life. Yet, some Vulcan are willing to do both because they value logic above all.
I choose to see an metaphor for terrorists who kill in the name of God.
After 6 episodes I still have to process the different format to previous Star Trek shows. It's a bigger challenge to get familiar with the crew in general, for example. We get to know their relation and standing to Michael, but barely know anything about them, their skills etc.
Otherwise the established setting looks interesting, though I feel that it didn't really take off yet. Which isn't uncommon for a first season.
Oh and I forgot to mention crew members apparently wear Nike Sock Darts as standard issue footwear.

Well, this is more like it! This actually felt like good classic Star Trek plot, but without all the ilogicalities and stupidity from last weeks episode (which is good especially when dealing with vulcans). Lorca proves yet again that he's the most complex character maybe in Star Trek history, and we can say that already six episodes in. I can only hope that Michael embracing her human side means she'll develop more from that uptight always right character into something more interesting.
