Sharp Objects: Season 1

1x04 Ripe

for those who already read the book, it's amazing to see how the directors portrait the tones and vibes of wind gap and Camille's Psyche trough images and cuts and bits and pieces of forks, of knives, of screws and all the sharp objects that surround her all the time. I love how now every time i see her with a bottle of water i instantly know that is liquor and she is drunk. The book covers all this with narration by Camille and i was really afraid to see a lot of narration here too, how is so often used in tv shows. Is great to see a show that cares about building the characters, specially Wind Gap itself with its own persona. I wasn't sure i would see so many dialogues from the book in the series, but you can't fix what is not really broken. Amazing adaption. Loving it more and more now. And wow, they are even developing Alan, who is almost never talked about in the book.

I haven't read this book yet but my money are on Camille. I suspect she could have killed her sister as well because she wanted her mom's attention. I suspected her mom or Amma but I am more inclined to think it's Camille. Anyway, what a twisted family!

I thought this episode was alright. I liked the section where the main character and the cop went on their expedition and we learned more about her past through the things she told him. I find it hard to relate to the murder investigation because it feels like "Well our only suspects are creepy angry dude A and creepy angry dude B, who were both related to a victim" I like the relationships being developed between the mom and her husband and the cop.

With everything that has happened to Camille, I understand that she drinks a lot

It is truly amazing how showrunners manage to show nothing for four whole episodes in the eight series show. And when they decide to show some, oh boy, not enough cuts for my liking.
