Just finished watching season 1. A few points to bring up first.
1. Alan Tudyk is outstanding in this role
2. Every episode made me Laugh Out Loud several times in each episode, not just giggle
3. If you like off beat dark comedy - Watch This Show
Out the gate I have to say this is the funniest shows I've watched in years. Only Big Bang drew out belly laughs similar to Resident Alien. And Alan knocked it out the park in his delivery. Every character in the show has a story it isn't only about the alien. There's quite a bit happening in the show and I also appreciated the show having a Native American focus too. A nice touch considering we're focusing on Colorado rural area. I didn't see it just as a push for woke.
Big Black is a great addition and the deputy.
There are some fun surprises and seriously Resident Alien had me bursting out laughing many times mainly because I like dry wit, dark comedy, and plays on words. Last year sucked in so many ways. Resident Alien breaks those shackles, shows some amazing footage of Colorado, puts a smile back on faces and who doesn't need to exercise those smiling muscles and lungs again. WATCH THIS SHOW.
The best part of the show is Tudyk's ability to convey the awkwardness, curiosity, and genuine alien nature of Harry is a testament to his remarkable talent as an actor. He fully embraces the quirks and idiosyncrasies of the character, bringing him to life in a way that feels both comical and surprisingly endearing.
The supporting characters did not receive much in terms of character development. They often served as mere plot devices to move the story forward or provide comic relief, with their own backgrounds and motivations largely unexplored. This lack of depth made it difficult to invest in their stories or care about their fates.
The plot of "Resident Alien" also suffered from pacing issues and a lack of meaningful progression. It felt as though the series meandered aimlessly at times, with subplots that failed to connect or pay off in a satisfying way. This lack of cohesion left the audience wondering where the show was heading and whether there was a larger narrative at play.
Resident Alien is a prime example of a promising concept that was let down by lackluster writing. While the show has its moments of humor and charm, it ultimately falls short of its potential, leaving viewers longing for a more thoughtful and engaging exploration of its central premise. If you're a fan of science fiction and expect depth and nuance in your storytelling, you may find "Resident Alien" to be a disappointing experience.

Almost passed this one by until I realized it starred Alan Tudyk, who, is a gem as the alien on a mission who gets stranded amongst his erstwhile subjects, (or possible victims...., spoilers Sweetie) and has to adapt and fit in while he tries to complete his task. I Almost turned it off when Corey Reynolds, as one of the few, if only extra melanin possessing folks amidst gallons of Buttermilk insisted in playing the "Big (bad) Black" card every time he opened his mouth. Maybe take a cue from your former Boss Brenda Leigh Johnson, turn up the country charm (but PLEASE turn off the awful "hick" accent) and don't come in so hot that you offend everyone but yourself. But, I overlook his series sins and was rewarded with a very enjoyable pilot.
I agree with @J_345 in that the Sci Fi Channel is NEVER to be trusted with having good judgement as to what it's viewers like, and what is a series worth keeping around. They have cancelled TOO MANY of my favorites to list, often to be replaced by wrestling or re-runs., so, I will watch this with cautious optimism in the hopes we get through at least a full, if not multiple seasons, and, aren't simply left hanging with no explanation.
