I love when the two plots intersect like this while still retaining the formula we all know and love so easily. It showcases a strength in the writers to experiment while also making sure the show keeps it's identity. And having Carl, one of the characters who has made his presence known the most this season, be the one to influence said change is a great decision.

It also allows for great gags involving misreadings of situations, which are always my favourite, especially when they are as ridiculous as this. Carl's interactions with the gang are strong enough that I wanted more of them together, even if I know that will likely not happen.
