I watched four episodes and found Night Court so bad, it feels like a CBS sitcom. No humor, no chemistry between the actors and the writing is just poor. Multicam laugh track with nonsensical situations, it’s very 80s sitcom-esque.
Melissa Rauch is passable but the supporting cast are such bad overactors, no one else knows how to act in that traditional sitcom style and their deliveries are painful. The bailiff is like a cartoon caricature.
Laughtracks seem so dated, and it sounds like the same laughter tracks for every joke. The show feels like they added laugh tracks at random intervals because nobody involved in post-production could work out where the jokes were supposed to be.
I have never seen the original, so I really measure it against the old show but it seems like people will put up with a lot for nostalgia. Maybe it'll find its stride. As of now, it's a miss in my opinion. I really don’t understand what people are seeing in this show.
