In this episode Earl tries to help his brother Randy experience the joy of scoring a football touchdown --- which experience Earl thinks he stole when he used Randy to fix a high school game. In the meantime Joy --- Earl's ex-wife --- has learned of Earl's lottery luck, and wants Earl's lottery money, so she has Earl's car towed --- without realizing that Earl keeps his money in his falling-apart car. Joy and Earl race to raise $3,000 in order to get the car released from the pound. In the end, Randy comes up with the $3,000 when he bets for his team (in the high school to which he was fraudulently enrolled by Earl) to lose the coming football game and then purposely fumbles his one chance at scoring a touchdown.

Aside from Earl --- the classic hick hillbilly living in the (small) city ---, it is the "side" outrageous characters that make this show funny. In this episode, it is fake father of Randy that stands out. And of course, Joy is also usually funny. A run-of-the-mill episode.
