The episode was very exciting, what with all this courtly intrigue courtesy of Agravaine, and the whole race as to who would be first to throw tables on whom. I was rather worried about Gaius since he is not the main character so does not have such a strong plot armour as either Merlin or Arthur, I supposed he may really die in this episode. It is such a pity that Arthur is still too naive and trusting and believes Agravaine much too easily, still lapping up everything his uncle says for the most time. Gawain as a simple knight without much cunning fell very easily for Agravaine's ploy. Which is also a pity as he could have revealed Agravaine's treason. Gawain is always fun to watch, though as for now I guess we may worry about him since Agravaine may want to get rid of him just in case. I am not sure what was the meaning of the dagger, would this be a Chekhov's gun later on? Gaius and Merlin are really in a tight place about Agravaine, as they know about his treason but cannot really reveal to Arthur, who looks totally uncritically towards his uncle. And all the time they know that Agravaine endangers Arthur and every moment he is allowed to do as he pleases, Arthur is in danger. Maybe they should prepare some provocation to entrap him?
The plot twist with the sorcerer Alator was quite surprising, as Morgana and Agravaine were going to the place where Gaius was kept, I supposed there would be a huge magical battle between Morgana and Alator on one side and Merlin on the other side, but all this was subverted when the sorcerer protected Merlin against Morgana and even sort of swore fealty to Merlin.
