The messy Koo Dae-Young moves in next door to Lee Soo-Kyung, a food fanatic, after her previous neighbour dies by choking on a live octopus. The cute Yoon Jin-Yi also moves in and the 3 start a very hectic life together.

After enjoying a succulent dish of sashimi to placate his friend and his worries, he is coincidentally reunited with his college classmate, Lee Ji Woo, and starts to get reacquainted with her. He starts to reminisce the days of his twenties and takes us back to his freshman year in college where it all began.

Dae Young takes her out to lunch to celebrate moving into the neighborhood and there, he brings back her smile that is as sparkling as the hairtail dish they enjoy. Later, Dae Young is offered a position as a food critic by CQ Food’s Sunwoo Sun that could change his life. Meanwhile, Seo Yeon, Ji Woo’s sister, returns to Korea after a decade.
Dae Young rejects Sun’s offer but still cannot get his mind off of it. However, Ji Woo tells him that he should be more realistic about his career and that he is getting older. Meanwhile, Seo Yeon moves into Sun’s place to his dismay. He warns her not to cross the line, but she relentlessly breaks the rules. After finding out that Sun wants to recruit Dae Young, Seo Yeon tells him that she can persuade him to sign the contract.
On his first day at work, Dae Young impresses his colleagues at a restaurant. Almost immediately, they begin cheering and relying on him. Sun, who has been watching everything, feels confused and uncomfortable by how his colleagues take an instant liking to Dae Young. Meanwhile, Ji Woo finds out that Dae Young canceled his plans with her to have a meal with Seo Yeon.
Dae Young spots Ji Woo hastily running out of her house and follows her. Just as she is about to get hit by a car, he comes to her rescue. She tells him that her mother has fallen down a flight of stairs and is currently hospitalized. He accompanies her to the hospital only to find out that her mother is suffering from dementia. Meanwhile, Ji Woo decides to take her mother out of the nursing home and bring her back home.
Seo Yeon finally catches Jung Yeon Ah, the woman who ran away with her money. However, it turns out that she has a son who is very ill and tells Seo Yeon that she won’t be able to pay her back anytime soon. Meanwhile, Ji Woo and Dae Young attend Sung Joo’s wedding. There, Sung Joo tells them that they should get married to each other.
To get away from Dae Young, Ji Woo decides to move out. She warns Dae Young to keep her out of his circle, but her moving-out somehow brings a big trouble to him. Meanwhile, Sun invites Ji Woo to his place to have dinner with her, and Seo Yeon hides in the bathroom because she doesn’t want her half-sister to find her living with Sun.

In 2004, while going on a skiing trip with her friends, Seo Yeon runs into Byeong Sam at a top-notch apartment. She then later finds out that he is the sole heir of BS Industrials. She tells Ji Woo and the boys, and Jin Seok is in great shock that the only person whom he thought was below him turns out to be the son of a conglomerate. Meanwhile, Byeong Sam tells his friends that he has feelings for Ji Woo.
During the flashback, Byeong Sam asks Ji Woo to be his girlfriend for the seventh time, and she rejects just as many times. However, he does not stop and pops the question whenever he is drunk. Meanwhile, Ji Woo brings her dog to the vet and is told to prepare herself to say goodbye soon.
After leaving Sun’s place, Seo Yeon has nowhere else to go and grudgingly moves in with her biological mother. However, she is once again gravely heartbroken by her mother’s words about how having her was a mistake. Meanwhile, Dae Young finds out that his Product Development Team will be disbanded.
Due to his father’s business going under, Dae Young gives up on going to Germany for the World Cup and hands the money he has saved up to his father. In addition, he decides to serve his military duty earlier than expected since he has no money for tuition. Both Ji Woo and Dae Young are sad to say their goodbyes but are afraid to be honest with each other.
Seo Yeon fills in Ji Woo on why she had left. Even though her claim is absurd, Ji Woo starts to slowly understand Seo Yeon’s reason for being the way she is. They say their goodbyes, and Seo Yeon leaves Ji Woo again. However, not long after, Seo Yeon ends up waking up hungover at Ji Woo’s place with Sun knocking on the door for an egg. Sun, the man who respects all personal and professional boundaries, starts to cross over and makes a dash for Seo Yeon.
To Sun who keeps bothering her, Seo Yeon tells him to just cross the line, sleep with her, and get it over with. Upon hearing this, he grabs her by the arm and takes her outside, leaving Dae Young in a daze. Meanwhile, Ji Woo finds Seo Yeon in her mom’s hospital ward.
