[8.5/10] Another great episode. The opening round-up was particularly good. While finding the flaws in Trump's approach to the opioid crisis or the problems with Roy Moore isn't especially hard, the bit about the absurdities of Australia's mail-in gay marriage vote was outstanding. And the follow-up interstitial bit with Meat Loaf butchering "America the Beautiful" was great as well.

The main story felt like classic Last Week Tonight. Maybe it's just by own ignorance, but I knew next to nothing about the government's flood insurance program, and so learning about its history, flaws, impact, and how it could be reformed all in the span of ten minutes felt like time well spent, and Oliver's ability to liven things with tostito-ravenous seagulls and silly local TV bits took the edge off. It's the right balance of education and entertainment that I like from this show.

Overall, it feels like LWT has found a nice groove since its return from hiatus, and I hope it continues.

Surprising that they seemed to put so little effort into that seagull puppet they flew in. LWT usually overdoes stuff like that. The hand puppet was much better.

NB: Most parking lots are paved with asphalt, not concrete. Still a good joke, but technically off the mark.
