[7.6/10] Enjoyed this one as the second half of the prior episode. It does a nice job at making comic hay out of all the ill-considered relationships the various members of the gang entered into in the prior episode, while folding Mac back into the proceedings since his story is effectively over.
I think my favorite of the stories was Frank and Charlie squabbling and then getting their marriage annulled. The two are basically an old married couple already, so having the pair of them run through marriage clichés was amusing. Everything from their argument over money to their initially testy but sweet negotiation over the annulment was gold. Plus, while Charlie’s Uncle Jack wasn’t a character I was necessarily demanding to see more of, he was pretty hilarious here, from his obsession with hands, to everyone’s discomfort around him, to his generally creepy demeanor. He was a laugh-worthy addition to the episode.
Plus, I alwyas love when the main lawyer The Gang has been pestering over the years shows up, and so him popping up to represent Maureen in the divorce was a pleasant surprise. Dennis’s immediate regret of getting hitched was played well for comic effect by Glenn Howerton, and the whole thing wraps up nicely.
I was less amused by Dee’s adventures with Bobby Ponderosa and the kidnapping plot, but it had a few funny moments, mostly surrounding Dee’s efforts to keep the car he gave her. Kaitlin Olson has been killing it as of late, and her reaction and delivery are the best parts of this plot.
Overall, a nice and very amusing start to the season.
