GAY MAC RULES - quote of the year
IM SO HAPPY FOR MAC!!
GAY MAC RULES! GAY-GAY, RICH MAC!
Such a great episode. This style episode is what they do best. The gang arguing amongst themselves.
I need to tell my friend , how to get out of the closet with style... Nice episode!
best television episode of 2017 honestly i'm so happy for my gay son mac
I didn't think they were actually going there. I though it was going to be a copout like last time. But I was wrong. And I love them for it. Thank you, Sunny.
GAY RICH MAC GAY RICH MAC GAY RICH MAC I'M CRYING LETSSSSSSSSSS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
[8.1/10] I gotta admit, I started out kind of cold on this one. But the episode gained momentum as it kept going, until I was loving it by the end. The way that the show sets up a Palsgraf v. Long Island Railroad-esque knot of causes and effects, that The Gang tries to untie through a series of beleaguered arbitrators to determine who owns a scratch-off ticket, falls squarely into the half down-to-earth, half utterly insane setup that IASIP does so well.
I’ll admit, the stuff about Dee smoking, Dennis grooming a young cashier, and Charlie intentionally stepping in dog poo to remove his cigarette smell didn’t do much for me. But by the time The Gang was debating the ethics of using a slur to get someone’s attention in a life-or-death situation, and exploring Mac jumping in and out of the closet, it got into that transgressive-but-clever territory that is the show’s bread and butter. Between the absurd debates, Mac’s ridiculous exercise bike contraption, and the understandable skepticism of the attorneys having to deal with this insanity, this one found another gear mid-way through the episode, and became delightful.
Plus, hey, the show actually grappled with Mac being gay! I’d grown tired of all the Smithers-esque jokes about his sexuality, and using the $10,000 dollars as a means to both persuade Mac to take the leap, realize he kind of likes it, and note how it doesn't change anything (including their disdain for him) for The Gang is a nicely effective way to finally close out this kind of awkward running joke on the show. There’s even a hint of sweetness to it, in a show that doesn't go for sweetness very often, and still buries it in disdain and insults.
Overall, a landmark episode for the show that stumbles a bit out of the gate, but soon finds its footing and never loses pace afterward.
I'm in awe of Rob McElhenny's ability to explain something completely insane while keeping a straight face. I can't imagine how many takes it took them to get through the bike scene without laughing.
Did not expect the feels in an episode that opens with Charlie stepping in dog shit. Mac <3
Woah, they smashed this episode. Starts off a little slow, gets a little icky especially around the Dennis stuff. And comes home really strong. Rob's performance at the end of the episode is everything. And everyone just keeps trucking along. Season 12 has been the benchmark so far.
finally! so happy for mac!
This was by far the best episode in a long time. Great stuff. A nice riff on the idea of Carlin's "7 dirty words..." too I thought.
GAY MAC RULES
GAY RICH MAC
one of the greatest opening sequences in this entire series so far
One of my favourite Charlie moments when he steps in shit :joy:
I watched this like 3 times this week and I could probably do it again, 12 seasons in and they still come out with episodes like this one, I love this show
Awww so happy for Mac (again), hopefully this time is the real deal.
