I'm just gonna say that this is great. Not like any other alien invasion, and the cliffhanger just teases more to come.
Everyone has been blaming and giving lower ratings to this show since the beginning, but my heart says "have a little faith" and yes, it's correct, this show is getting better. I can't wait for season 2 to come out.
Really enjoyed this. Not your typical alien invasion tv. I don’t think you really see much of the actual aliens until last episode 5 or 6? But I think that’s half of the appeal. Leaves you wondering more. Great finale. Wide open for series 2.
What a finale I loved it
Wow, turns out it's getting a second season ... I guess people are watching this train wreck.
After LA Brea getting one two, nothing surprises me anymore.
That was probably the worst season finale I’ve ever seen. The whole episode was redundant and didn’t advance a single bit of the story or the characters.
What a soulless piece of junk. 50 minutes of nothing to build an obvious cliffhanger which will be followed by even more nothingness in season 2.
5-6 episodes of characters building that amounted to nothing even vaguely interesting. Soap operas do a much better job!!
No description whatsoever about what the aliens are supposed to be, where they come from, why they are here. Messed up physics and science, like a nuclear explosion in space in the previous episode that could be seen from Uk, NA and Japan at the same time (and being daytime in all countries). Just an huge mess!
Season finale 4/10. The whole show 5/10.
Fool me once… etc. Never again.
I realize that part of my massive disappointment with this season finale lies in the pent-up frustration that I've had all along with regard to the glacial pacing of the series from the very beginning. On an ALIEN INVASION show, for crying out loud! They could have left half of each episode on the cutting room floor and it would have lost nothing on the narrative front and definitely gained a TON on the pacing front. Something like this should be no less than 75% action and adventure and shock and awe and no more than 25% character study and introspection, and I'm being extremely generous with those percentages. But this FINALE is the worst of the entire season on that front, and I'd estimate that it was easily 95% navel-gazing and useless filler and 5% action and plot advancement. This episode had maybe five minutes of new material, and maybe a single minute of new material related to, you know, the INVASION.
The actors, as always, do fine work here. The production values are good. The director does as much as possible with the script. But jeebus cripes, what a HORRIBLE script. The writing team should be doing lame Hallmark movies, if not waiting tables someplace. And they expect people to come back for more of this snooze fest? Heck, I left THIS episode sitting and waiting for over a week before I got around to watching it, which pretty much sums of how much excitement it has instilled in me. If others are the same way, I'm guessing that the next season won't even get half the audience that this season got. What an incredible waste of potential and viewer goodwill...
Now what the fuck was that...
What an ending. I can't wait for season 2. Still not sure how I feel about the show as a whole but there are definitely storylines that are interesting to me. Looking forward to how they twist this and how our world changes in the next season.
I don't know how one can watch this episode without fast forwarding all the time or falling asleep.
Someone should count the minutes of people just gazing out randomly. It's just awful.
Bad script and bad direction
Last episode was good and should have ended on that. 10th episode is so boring. Not sure I want to see second season.
So dumb that my brain hurts ...
Just watched the final episode and can't say I've enjoyed it any better than the others.
At some point you have to realize it's not a "slow burn", it's just a character drama and not an action series.
Unfortunately also the season finale could not save this show. I usually really like movies or shows that move their story forward slowly but in this case the spark is just not there for me. After watching the whole season I still do not care about any of these characters. Curiously the show was renewed for a second season but I‘m not sure if I will give it another try.
Best part of it was, I watched it in 10 minutes by skipping all the worthless drama. Big surprise ending. a second ship, Casper is alive and last but not least, There is no Santa Claus. Sorry I didn’t blank out that last spoiler. Especially since if you couldn’t guess the first 2, you may still be a believer. And for the obviousness of the first 2, they might as well as slipped that in as part of their cliffhangers.
This last episode of was boring. What was that thing at the end?
Hands down, this is the WORST show apple has produced. Rather watch paint dry then a second season of this crap.
Thankfully it’s over. Cut out 40% of the characters and I’ll look forward to a season 2
Did not see that coming...and, by that I mean I REALLY didn't expect this show to be an emotional experience for me, given the topic (LOVE Science Fiction, just not the, "easy," stuff) and ...well, that it's character based/driven (it's not The CW, and the slow reveals of each primary character's back-story -- dunno, but I was feelin' it).
So, whad'ya think, did this alien race foretell our demise, and rushed right over to save us by digitizing everyone? ...yup, as they killed us, and that's why Cas saw a black hole. The digital back-ups are new to me, but I haven't read anything since I was a teen in the 70's.
What a crap ending for a pretty poor show.
Just coming on here to see everyone spit their dummies out because it’s not Independence Day.
I really like it, drama is not a copy of past by other series/movies, aliens are very elaborated, I like the description of every character... Can't wait to see season two!
Damn the soldiers wife, they made her look like a crack Hoe. They could’ve at least made her presentable like they do with people.
You’d think army guy would have at least had a shower and change of clothes at some point before getting home. Or even before the interview. He would have been so hard to breathe near.
What was that ending? I tried to be excited but found myself once again dozing off. Zero advancement of the invasion, once again.

OK I GET it. A "slow burn" show like this isn't everyone's cup o' tea. However, IMO, in the case of "Invasion", it worked well, in that it made you "feel" for the characters, (love OR hate them), while intercutting between stories, all the while avoiding hitting you over the head with monster jump scares, but still teasing you enough to keep you intrigued. A fine line to walk, and, they didn't always do it well. But all in all, a pretty good series, which, especially after the seemingly "easy, tied with a ribbon" NOT ending, and the "we ALL saw that coming" reveal at the NOT end, I am glad is getting a second chance "at bat".
Yes, some of the characters were predictable and annoying, and yet, the one person I wanted dead murked at the start, actually partially redeemed himself, and a couple of the others may, or may not have shed their mortal coils, at least on THIS plane. It will be interesting to see if they can take this beyond the "they came here for our resources" (or our brains) trope, and actually come up with something new(ish). Especially intriguing is the thought that Caspar (and his epileptic visions) could somehow partly be the CAUSE ("they came here for ME") as well as the effect of the arrival, especially with the astronauts Father making an appearance in his dream(?) after (brain) death(?). (Vdub Fringe's "digital back ups?") (but why was the father there?) Trevante Coles BEARD gets an honorable mention as an additional character, as well as Aneesha Malik for actually being a good Mom and not pitting her kids against the Dad by withholding a critical piece of information from them, even (or especially) after his possibly assuming room temperature. (no body, then, perhaps, perhaps, perhaps?)
Yeah, OK, maybe they spent too much time on these character development parts of the plot, but, as I stated earlier, they got me invested in the characters, for better or for worse, and, I look forward to seeing how the "rest of the story" plays out.
