Newlyweds Saki Mizuguchi and husband Koichi Obara have decided that getting married was a huge mistake. They met three months ago when air-rescue pilot Koichi plucked the stranded Saki from a snow-covered mountainside. But their lifestyles and values couldn’t be more different. Ever since moving in together, they’ve been constantly bickering… Just as they’re about to tell their parents that they’re thinking of calling it quits, Koichi’s mother and father surprise them by announcing they’re getting divorced.
After a whirlwind romance and wedding, Saki realizes that she and Koichi are completely mismatched. But her resolve to get a divorce is shaken after he shows strength and kindness in saving her from a potentially dangerous fall. Later, she asks him to attend a fancy office party with her. Though reluctant, Koichi agrees after Saki stresses how important it is to her career and future independence. Meanwhile, Koichi promises his boss to bring Saki along to his own workplace barbecue. But when it turns out that Saki’s party and Koichi’s barbecue are on the same day, the couple has another huge row!
Saki’s mother, Midori, having discovered that her husband has been having an affair, shows up at the young couple’s home and announces that she’s moving in. Meanwhile, Koichi learns that his mother, Kaoru, is working at a hot spring resort in Hakone after filing for divorce. Koichi and Saki decide to take off time from work to go to see her and find themselves looking forward to the trip, their first since their wedding. But will their belated “honeymoon” make them change their minds about splitting up?
On a trip to Hakone to see Koichi’s mother, Saki is deeply touched when Koichi confesses his reasons for having married her, and the couple returns to Tokyo on good terms. Meanwhile, without consulting them, Saki’s mother, Midori, has organized a birthday party for herself at the couple’s new apartment. What’s more, she’s gone and invited not only Saki’s ex-boyfriend but also Koichi’s colleague, Jun, who secretly has a crush on him!
Saki and Koichi decide to put their divorce plans on hold and make a fresh start. She even asks her mother-in-law to give her cooking lessons! Meanwhile, Koichi’s supervisor raises concerns about his long commute to the SDF base. Koichi decides the best thing is for him and Saki to move closer to the base. But Saki, who’s just been put in charge of managing a bestselling author at work, is worried about how the move might affect her career. Will the couple be able to reach a compromise?
Despite caring deeply for each another, Saki and Koichi just cannot get along. Having signed the divorce papers, they agree to sell their apartment, which Saki lovingly renovated, to a pair of newlyweds. They spend their final days together not as husband and wife but as friends. On the night before their move, Saki prepares a special “last supper.” But Koichi gets delayed by a crisis at work, and while Saki awaits his return, Ren, her selfish and demanding author, comes barging into the apartment.

Then Koichi shows up with his parents, and it turns out that not only have all three couples gotten divorced, but even Saki’s sister is planning to! A few days later, Saki is shocked when her mother, Midori, confesses that she’s been defrauded out of 20 million yen.
Now that she’s single again, Saki finds herself surrounded by suitors. Takuya confesses he wants to date her with a view to getting married. Concerned about Saki’s future happiness, Koichi decides to secretly follow Takuya to learn more about him. Meanwhile, Koichi receives a surprise visit from Ren, who announces he intends to marry his ex-wife. Later, after mulling things over, Koichi goes to talk to the young writer, and while he’s there Saki turns up…
Concealing their true feelings, Saki and Koichi break up again, each thinking it’s best for the other’s happiness. Saki decides to sell the apartment they bought together, which constantly reminds her of Koichi. Saki entrusts the sale to Takaya, who immediately goes to talk to Koichi. Meanwhile, Ren, who has nearly finished his new romance novel, tells Saki that the ending depends on what she and Koichi do. Will they tell each other how they really feel, before it’s too late?
After admitting their feelings for each other, Saki and Koichi begin dating again. Unbeknownst to Koichi, Saki is debating whether to accept her company’s offer and go to Paris for three years. It’s the chance of a lifetime, but she doesn’t want to lose Koichi again. With the clock ticking, she still can’t make up her mind... Meanwhile, Koichi happens to hear about the Paris offer from Ren. After thinking it over, he quietly comes to his own decision. They each want what’s best for the other, but can they both make their dreams come true?
