Don't get discouraged by the storm of negative reviews. Just give it a honest chance for yourself. I went in without any expectations and came out satisfied and entertained.

Why is Valentina walking around the city with no pants on?

Cute start! This isn't HIMYM and the original creators aren't involved from what I can see (thank goodness, with how they think a good story ends). But this looks cute! As a long time HIMYM fan, I'm up for giving it a try. Really love Ellen so far! Seeing the old apartment was great, too!

The quality of this show starts where "How I met your mother" left off...

They try really hard to be funny. The problem is: They try...

I just started watching this out of nostalgia. I’m not sure if I’m on board with this show just yet, but I’m willing to give it a chance. Loved the ending that now one of the characters lives in Ted & Marshall’s apartment.

You know one thing I like? Charlie reacts entirely realistically when people see him naked. He doesn't panic so hard he forgets to cover up leading to a very extended naked scene everyone has to talk about for 20 minutes.

The rest of the episode is a pretty basic introduction to a cast of characters.

Pretty sure the father will be the guy that disappeared overseas. Pretty easy for this show if it gets cancelled earlier than expected to just bring that character back to wrap it up and have him as the father.

First episode not as bad as I was expecting.

I wasn't sure what to expect going into this, but I was genuinely surprised by how awful it is.

It feels like a Nickelodeon sitcom for kids circa 2005, complete with a cast of talentless marionettes, zero jokes and an absurd laugh track.

None of the charm or wit of the original. The format is an embarassing holdover from a previous decade, but executed so poorly it sets my teeth on edge.

Suffice to say I won't be bothering with episode 2.

Nice a simple start, with some nostalgia, to a show that risks too much on wanting to remake a classic, because they will have to stand by alone a be more creative in the next episodes.

The theme song at the start and the music that played when they entered the apartment... brought back so many memories! So nostalgic!

I was told there was going to be an easter egg from HIMYM in here but.... no. That's not how easter egg work.

That said by itself the show is... fine enough. There's a weird time thing in there that feels awkward like every depiction of the near future. Hilary Duff is fun as she's been since she was a child honestly. This cast is a little more modern and yet still slightly whitewashed but it's certainly watchable and unlike HIMYM we're promised it won't drag out it's premise 3 extra seasons longer than it should be so that will help. There's a lot less ambiguity in the father here than the mysterious mother with the umbrella in the previous series. It's a mini series how annoying could it get.

“How I Met Your Mother” was the last typical sitcom that I really loved (up until the 6th or 7th season, it got pretty bad towards the end), the genre just doesn’t really do it for me anymore. This show will probably do just fine, I can see it having a 5 or 6 season run. Maybe it will stick the landing better than HIMYM, but I won’t be there to see it :man_shrugging: I didn’t laugh once.

The laugh track was very jarring at first but I noticed it less by the end. Hopefully it tones down overall.
I had fond memories of HIMYM despite the awful ending so willing to give this a shot. Hope they don't lean on references to the original too much. Little touches here and there are fine but it shouldn't just be an homage show.

Interesting that they're already narrowing the guy down to those she met that first episode at least.

Canned laughter? Really? It's 2022, people.
