Five years have passed since the events of first series, Kouga has been promoted to a Knight of the Makai Senate for slaying seven of the Apostle Horrors. His first assignment is to hunt down the Horror Cigarein.
Kouga is sent on a hunt for a Horror who traps young men and collects them, unintentionally reuniting with Kaoru who does not know about the destruction seal on his body.
Kouga is assigned to escort Reo and transport a Goryuu named Colt to the Eastern District. While enroute, the two are attacked by a Horror. Colt then goes haywire, develops a Horror-like mentality and absorbs a motorcycle, going on a rampage across the highway.
A Horror with a love for gambling has set up an island poker club to feed on humans. However, it has also set up a barrier so that no Makai Knight can detect it. Kouga must go undercover without his weapons to find out which person in the club is the Horror.
A manhole cover maker is creating manholes that act as Gates for the Horror Death Hole. Kouga and Leo must find all the manhole covers before Death Hole brings a mass outbreak of Horrors into the human world.
An elderly couple is poisoning wayward travelers to feed the tree Horror Erinnerung in order to bring back their dead son every night when the moon is out. Rei arrives and must fight the Horror to get the couple to face the harsh reality.
Kouga is assigned by the Senate to escort the arrogant Makai Priest Ratess to transport a Spirit Beast pelt to a dropoff point, so it can be used to manufacture Makai brushes. However, The Man in the Red Mask appears in an attempt to steal the pelt and is pursued by Kouga. Red duels with Kouga in an attempt to kill him and then claim the pelt for some unknown purpose.
Juuzo Igami, a powerful samurai from the past awakens from a centuries long coma after making a contract with a Horror-possessed sword to heal his sickly body. Wanting to find a strong opponent to fight in the modern era, the samurai witnesses Rei's fine two-handed sword-style. Juuzo is then persistant in dueling Rei to find out who is stronger.
Juran, a popular stage actor suddenly disappears. Apparently a strange man with a mysterious past contracted with a Horror and killed him, yet though he started off well, his plans are to be thwarted by Kouga.
Leo takes Kaoru on a journey to find the Spirit Beast, a mystical entity that will tell him the secrets of his Makai powers.
Kouga takes Kaoru and Gonza to the tower where he inherited the title of Garo. However during the purification process, Kouga is attacked by Zaji, the manifestation of all the evil ki from the Horrors Kouga had defeated in the past.
In the past, Rei had saved a young girl from being run over by a car, and quickly became friends with her. Now, he crosses paths with her again in the present day...
A curse in Zaruba has started and to cure him, Kouga enlists the help of Jabi. Together they venture into the deep forest to purify Zaruba in a mythical river.
Kouga is tasked with the mission of stopping a rogue Makai Knight who apparently has fallen into the darkness. However Kouga realizes that this man is from his past, and knows that he can be saved.
Kouga encounters a Horror that murdered his comrades during his training days back in Kantai. His resolve to defeat it after all these years allow him to defeat it.
Rei encounters a powerful mechanical beast, and is only barely able to defeat it with the help of another Makai Knight. Determined to get to the bottom of this, he enlists the help of Kouga to find out more about their seals of destructions.
