This is a great first episode to a great show. I remember watching this for the first time and when Lester hits his wife in the head with the hammer I sat up and was just staring at the screen thinking it was all in his head but no it happened. The scene at the end with Billy Bob Thornton and Colin Hanks was great. That was definitely not a road he wanted to go down. Also I loved the white russian special on the wall of the diner, a reference to another great Coen brothers movie The Big Lebowski.

This is the perfect pilot. It introduces the characters really good making you interested for their story. A few moments in the episode are very shocking. The references to Fargo(1996) are a nice addition. Overall it’s a great first episode and sets up a promising thriller dark comedy.

"The Crocodile's Dilemma" is a superb pilot episode. The writing stood out to me in particular, with Malvo's interactions with Lester producing some brilliant dialogue. I felt just about every actor gave a memorable performance, too. My only complaints would be the pacing, which seemed a little rushed at points, and the final scene between Molly and her father. She doesn't seem to be too shaken up after what happened to Vern the previous night.

Overall, this is a near-perfect way to start a show.

Now that's how you make a pilot! Everything about it was perfect!

When Lester sees the hammer it's pretty obvious that he's gonna hit his wife in the head, but it was still pretty intense when he did it

Like how the writer makes possible to change the point of view so easily. "What if you're WRITE, and they are WRONG?" #Fargo
