I really respect the genuine boldness of The Stolen Earth. Having this finale be a multishow crossover feels like wonderful culmination of all Davis did as. And even as someone who could never get into Torchwood and never tried SJA its still wonderful to see all these different facets of DW coming together for one massive story. Its all the hype of a multi-Doctor story without actually having to have multiple Doctors.
This episode is non stop and exhilarating from jump. We intercut well between the different POVs and seeing characters interact with each other as the work to find the Doctor was equally fun and suspenseful. On a thematic level I love what it says about the people the Doctor surrounded himself well. Harriet Jones said it best"the Doctor chooses excellent companion and this one really highlighted it.
I would say my favourite moment was probably with Harriet Jones. her sacrifice was beautiful and poignant and I love that she still stood her ground on her attack in Christmas Invasion despite everything. It was a wonderful send off to an undersung character. Second favourite probably goes to Elisabeth Sladen's Sarah Jane. Loved her dynamic with her son and computer especially. Honestly I probably should try SJA because I love her character so much.
Overall a thrilling opening to the finale and I'm so hyped to see where it goes.
