This show is especially interesting if you have some prior knowledge of the Northern Ireland conflict. It's a funny show regardless, but it carries with it a fascinating historical background
Less is more, it’s also for true for TV Series. Nothing ”outstanding” must happen for everything to fall in place with extraordinary grace and perfection.
Short but intense comedy. Not to be missed.
This is probably one of my favourite shows that's currently airing. It's also one of the few shows that can both make me laugh out loud and cry in the same episode.
An absolutely fantastic show. It's charming, witty, and laugh-out-loud hilarious. I haven't laughed so much at a comedy show in a long time. The first two seasons are especially amazing, and the third, though not quite as good as the first two, is still excellent. I think there was only one episode across the entirety of the show that I didn't think was really good, but it was still decent.
A few points I have to note:
1. Erin's facial expressions are iconic.
2. Orla both terrifies and captivates me.
3. I'm convinced that Uncle Colm is actually an energy vampire.
The only thing wrong with this show is that it’s too short. Absolutely heart warming and definitely a comfort show for many.
Make sure you watch the The Great British Baking Show: Holidays S04E02 which features the cast of the Derry Girls! It's on Netflix US (in there is Season 3 Episode 2). https://trakt.tv/shows/the-great-british-baking-show-holidays/seasons/4/episodes/2
The characters in this show are SO GOOD! It's stupid funny with a lot of witty comments plugged in. Seriously, every darn character is amazing and the actors have done them justice. Definitely watch this show. It's quick and you will be done in a couple of days.
Pretty dull show that has its occasional moments but nothing too memorable. Go watch The Inbetweeners again instead.
Derry Girls took me a bit of time to warm to, but I found that Season 2 was a lot of fun. My favorite character is Sister Michael. Her reactions to the girls' antics are priceless. This show is a bit absurd but has a lot of heart.
I found this very humous and entertaining. Worth the time commitment in my opinion.
such a fun show!! stupid funny, but so wholesome too. still in disbelief that the main cast are all in their late 20s/early 30s?? also, james is such a good character, love him!
wow! funny, but even more touching. i feel like they are my family now. explaining the whole northern ireland conflict is not enough with objetive facts, it also needs emotions and passion and that's exactly what this show does.
Funny how comedy didn’t exist before this
ORLA BEST CHARACTER
Really wish there is a reunion with the girls all grown up
Show best probably enjoyed with a understanding of the Troubles and Northern Ireland conflict
Pretty good show overall. Each season got better than the last with season 3 by far the funniest. Great ending.
Thanks to Netflix we got to binge this series in a week or two. Now what are we gonna watch?!
One thing I did notice that's really quite odd - the songs/soundtrack didn't match up with the years. For instance the girls did a talent show and were Spice Girls (brilliant btw) but they didn't hit the music scene till '96 - about 10+ years in the future. Same with Ladies Night by Kool and The Gang (1979/1980) in the 1977/78 timeline. Just something a little irrelevant, but it stood out for me.
Season 1 - 6/10
Season 2 - 7/10
Season 3 - 9/10
It was one of the best shows I've recently watched. Irish humor at its finest.
First episode had me questioning what I was watching. This show is chaotic and at some moments everything seems to be happening at once but by the second episode I was already in love. It's loud and messy and so much fun!
Orla, Clare and Sister Michael alone are worth the watch.
This show is fantastic. So many crazy antics between all the characters, but they managed to bring out the heart when needed, especially in the series finale. Being the same age as the girls, I enjoyed seeing the mish-mash of fashions from a 15 year period. It was very amusing to see them start the series with being fairly nonchalant about the troubles, then ending up having major feels about the peace process.
Quick watch, but funny, great cast and excellent writing
Having no particular knowledge of this time period except for the vague details, I found this show to be really special. At the heart of it, this is a show about finding small bits of joy in a time of tremendous duress. It walks the line between comedy and drama incredibly well.
I needed to pause frequently to finish my laughs so that I don't miss out on the next joke. Bloody brilliant!!!
It's incredibly absurd sometimes, but in a good way. I'd recommend watching this with a friend or two, it's somehow a bit more funnier if you're laughing with a group.
Nothing amazing, you're not missing out if you don't watch this
FUCKING PERFECT, THE COMEDY WE ALL NEEDED! and their accent is definitely something else
Watch this show!! Great show that is well written and acted. Funny.
