Ghostbusters meets Supernatural type of vibe.
So far, so good. I wish the characters were older.
I watched the first episode. If you like this style and this type of series, I definitely recommend you to watch it. It's lively and the acting is good. The effects and the subject are excellent. When I watch all the episodes, I will come back and write here. I wish everyone a good time.:grinning::smiley:

I'm not familiar with the comics and when I first heard about it, I wasn't entirely convinced... ghosts solving crimes, really? But when I saw Neil Gaiman's name, I decided I had to try it... and I don't regret anything, I love it with all my heart... characters, plot... and of course references to Sandman. Well, with Neil and people from Supernatural, it just had to work. I really hope we get another season:fingers_crossed:

You'd expect that the 28th YA fantasy Berlanti show would be just the same as the 27 previous ones, but the chemistry between the titular Detectives holds the entire show together and elevates it past the notion of procedural case-of-the-"week" it initially reeks of.
It's very well-produced, witty-written, visually-pleasing comfort food. Bad guys will be oh so bad, the good boys will make you fall in love the with, nothing new under the sun. They accept the wheel needs no reinventing, only dressing it up with feeling and candor.
As a fan of the comic series, I've been looking forward to this show since it was announced.
While there are some differences, the general vibe of the show follows the comics, and it is a good adaptation that I thoroughly enjoyed. They've aged the main characters up, and to be honest, that makes sense for a TV show. The two actors playing Edwin and Charles have done a fantastic job of portraying them.
I enjoyed the new characters, especially Niko and Jenny. I can't quite put my finger on it, but right from the onset, Jenny reminded me of someone in the Dreaming universe or perhaps DC Universe (which is connected to the Dreaming Universe). She works so well in the show.
I was very disappointed to see the writers create a villain that uses a cane. There is plenty of source material they could have used, most of which they chose to disregard which was a shame, and instead of using any of it they decided to create a villain based on an ableist stereotype. And yes, this matters a lot. There were plenty of other ways to incorporate an iron weapon into her character design without making it a cane.
It was also disappointing as a British fan to see them place the show in America, but of course, Americans' gotta Americanise everything. I'm aware that there was one manga based in the US, but it had a very different storyline, so it seems unlikely that they chose that as a basis for this season. The end episode suggests that the next season (if we get one) will be set in London, but I'll believe it when I see it.
Unfortunately, this also means some of the British humour that made the comics great was lost in translation. For example, Crystal's name, 'Crystal Palace' is a place in South East London with a rich history. In the show, her name doesn't get a reaction from the two British boys, and the American writers have added to it in typical overexaggerated American humour and made it just sound ridiculous.
Overall I did enjoy the show, but if, like me, you're a fan of the comics and were looking for a close adaptation like The Sandman then be prepared to be disappointed.
Dead Boy Detectives - :heart:x7
I was wracking my brain trying to remember where I had already seen a version of the Dead Boy Detectives before - then it hit me - it was on Doom Patrol (2021) S03E03. Overall it's an enjoyable show. There's nothing particularly noteworthy about it tho.

4-6 :heart: = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8 :heart: = I expect you will like this too
9-10 :heart: = movies and TV shows I really love!
I don't know if it's a Netflix thing or a Trakt thing but the episodes are out of order on one of them.

A very good and enjoyable series. Lots of things going on during the season. The detective agency solve some very interesting case's whilst the Cat King and the witch are always haunting the Detective agency in the Background. Very interesting and entertaining series. Well worth a watch. Highly recommend. Looking forward to the next season. :thumbsup_tone1:
