Dark: Season 1

1x02 Lies

Honestly, I'm finding it all a bit dull. There's intrigue but I don't care about any of the characters.

The guy in the hotel is adult Mikkel, right?

I still like the music. Oh, and there's a cave that everyone keeps walking in and out of. And there's a door at the back of the cave. They found another unfortunate child victim. All of the characters are psychos. There's a creepy guy in a hooded rain coat. The high school kids are finding drugs everywhere. There's a lot of people walking around but there's not much happening other than people looking for missing kids. There's a kid in an electric chair thing and a scientist talking about black holes. I'm confused.

Really enjoyed watching this second episode, although it keeps reminding me of Stranger Things. Missing kids, a cave, falling birds, the flickering lights, power failures and the creepy people at the nuclear power plant look to me as copies of even stranger things (ba dum tss) of another Netflix serie.

But the cliffhanger at the end made me really looking forward to the next episode. Really want to find out what's happening in the 80's room. And I want to know how much they're destroying Nena's music.

I'm really liking this, now I can start thinking of possible theories
The first thig that came to mind is that Mikkel was Jonas' dad who killed himself, bot now I'm leaning more towards thinking that he's the man at the hotel
I also believe that Mads, the kid who disappeared in the 80s is the one who showed up dead in the forest
Mikkel's granfather is pretty suspicious too

Coz of that time-travel bit, now I have a feeling there's some super ugly family secret that Jonas's dad got to know and could no longer bear to live with. Which could explain his suicide and the letter he sent to his mom to be opened on the exact same time Mikkel went missing. Or not.

This eps and the pilot should've been the same episode. It's only becoming quite clear where the episode is headed.

Two episodes so far, and they spent too much time on still shots seemingly to show character's expression and general mood of the situation. That could work if they've gone a bit further in the episodes, but we're still on eps. 2 where we don't know or don't care about each characters. There's no world-building as well. What we know so far about Winden is it's just a small town in the middle of forest with a nuclear plant heavily guarded where no significant crime has happened.

So that's a lot of time wasted.

Watched on Netflix. I think it is sort of clear where the story is heading, that time travel has a lot to do with it, so instead of a crime, or mystery show, they are also adding science fiction. That is original, although some say that it is like Stranger Things. First thing why it is not: the music, the environment, and the setup is very different. In this show, the atmosphere is dark, gloomy, and depressing, with the characters appearing to be in a rainy, isolated prison, and that is what this series great. The soundtrack is awesome too; it goes related to the storytelling. Good episode and let's see what happens next.

slow-paced but this ep was intriguing enough for me to continue watching it. i rly love it when the show is this literally dark (pun intended) w/ sci fi genre in it. sci-fi (&/or psychology) and killings in a fictional series together will never be not interesting.

and the eerie music is so terrifying, especially, at the scene where the lights were blinking.
