More than anything else, this show was about taking responsibility for your actions while still showing compassion for yourself and your journey. It was a hilarious show with great, great songs but as a show that dealt very thoroughly with the complications that come with a serious mental disorder, it ended in a beautiful way. And Rebecca should marry Nathaniel. At a time when she can truly be happy with him.
Just finished watching this show for the third time and I can't recommend it enough. Not only is the music phenomenal, but it brilliantly showcases borderline disorder, romance, and woman's issues. A must watch.
OmyGod, I think I like you. ;)
I picked this up on a whim and the first episode was hilarious. Rachael Bloom has had a bit of a TV-style "glow up" since her F Me Ray Bradbury days. As the first season came on it showed it wasn't just going to be a fun musical ala Galavant (which I sincerely loved) but something that played with more than the tropes of musical theatre but also the tropes of it's namesake. The Crazy Ex. First it was with the perspective and then it was with the characters.
Further seasons just managed to get better. Unlike Glee they didn't sacrificed what we loved about the story in Season 1 to just improve the music in further seasons. They kinda did both. With quotable lyrics and songs you'll never get out of your head. Rebecca grew to be someone we empathized with even more as we watched her we rooted for her and there are twists and pitfalls and all along you can look back and see the story was about Rebecca who she is and why and how that affects her ability to navigate her life. The aspects of the show I didn't like are so minor they're not even worth mentioning in a series review.
Easily recommend this to anyone who wants a good time and more importantly you'll know in three episodes (if not one) whether this show is for you. If you loved what you see you're gonna have a great time for four seasons of content that has pretty study legs.
One of the greatest shows of all times. The songs hold up and can fit many life events, all the characters are really endearing and the sets and costumes are incredible. Its a wonderful production
I still listen to the songs from this show. It's insane how relatable they are, and the whole series to be honest. Last season made me so emotional in the best way. Perfect ending. By far one of my favorite TV shows ever
I'm watching this for the 2nd time and it is even better than the first time around. I can't put into words how much I love this show, its quirkiness, its cleverness, how it pokes fun at society. It is SO CLEVER. I definitely get that it's not everyone's cup of tea and that some people might find it off putting and weird especially the first season but it gets so good and things make so much sense after a while. And I don't know. JUST WATCH IT. Get through the first episodes of the first season. I'm serious, the second hand embarassement makes sense, it's not just for weirdness. It has a purpose. Everything in this freaking show makes sense. Also the casting is stellar and just great, ok?
A messy show that nonetheless is more than the sum of its parts with its raw honesty, charming cast, and delightful musical numbers.
A crazy ex-girlfriend who gives up her life to move to a small town just so that she can stalk her ex because she wants to be with him forever? Yes, that's how it starts, but the series Crazy Ex Girlfriend goes much further and deals in its 4 seasons with many more serious topics packed into an entertaining show with many musical interludes. And exactly these musical numbers are probably the biggest USP of the series. The actors sing funny or more serious songs here on topics such as sex during menstruation ("Period Sex" (Season 2)), antidepressants ("Anti-Depressants Are So Not A Big Deal" (Season 4)) or the generalization of prejudices ( "Let's Generalize About Men" (Season 3)). Many of these songs are on Youtube and the like. to find and are the highlight for the fans of the series, which is whistled for breakfast coffee in the morning.
I don't want to anticipate the story of the 4 seasons, so I'm not going to go into much here. At its core the series accompanies Rebecca Bunch - the Crazy Ex - who initially wants to win over her ex, but in the course of the series realizes that she has deeper problems with which she often refuses to deal with herself. Starting from her job as a lawyer, other characters come across each with their own problems in their lives and / or in cooperation with Rebecca. Divorced marriages, non-heterosexual sexuality, fear of failure, you name it. For me, dealing with all of these problems openly is the greatest strength in the message of this series. Nobody has "no problems". But dealing with it openly clears a lot of heartache.
And also extremely funny musical numbers on topics that nobody else touches with the pliers? But hello! 8/10
started off really well but the towards the end it just dragged on with the same old story line, glad it's over.
I love this show <3 gonna miss it
If you're into resolutions about your previous toxic relationships and one bad ex, you're gonna love this epic adventure of a lady who has got BPD. This is not a show, this is basically the remedy for anxiety and depression. I love it so much.
I loved this show so much
Just discovered this gem, working my way through it. The first time in a long time I've been excited about a new show. It's silly and self aware and real and easy to identify with the characters. A real modern sit-com.
its like if glee was slightly less shit
Season two is too tiring
S02 is slow.... wish they would bring back the original intro song.
I... waaaaaas.... working hard at a NY job
I've been a fan of Rachel Bloom's singing and writing ever since her video "F*ck me, Ray Bradbury" popped up on YouTube. Her videos have never let being "offensive" stand in the way of comedy and pokes fun at today's "PC-climate".
I came into this show worried that her writing would've been toned down to suit broadcast TV rather than cable or on-line services. Musical comedy, especially non-PC, written by a YouTube star might not translate to the TV screen and isn't exactly mainstream to begin with.
Halfway through the first episode all my doubts had vanished. It's funny, clever, satirical and different. It's less like "The Big Bang Theory" and more like "South Park".
i cant even put into words how much i love this show and how happy it makes me
OMG THIS SHOW HUHU HAHA
This is such a weird little show lol

Never into musicals but I am liking this show. It is fun and different and makes me laugh. The singing is entertaining and sounds good. I hope the ratings increase so that they will keep making it. Probably one the few shows I look forward to anymore.
