After two strong and one average season the fourth season of Cobra Kai is rock-bottom. The storyline is totally random and after all basically nothing relevant happens in the ten episodes. They tried to develop characters a lot but this did not influence the storyline enough to justify the screentime. Some episodes are so cheesy that I was wondering if Netflix sells cheese fondues instead of shows. The acting is "ok" but I would highly recommend to pick the staff way more careful with respect to their performance in martial arts. I do not expect a Tony Jaa-like performance but some "main character" actors are so bad that I was wondering wether they had any training at all. With the fourth season they had the chance to conclude the storyline and make it a good one. Instead they decided to go on and on and squeeze out more views. A fate suffered by many series nowadays.
Another enjoyable season filled with great moments. I loved watching it, even though frustrated me a few times.
The characters never seem to learn from their mistakes. I'd be ok if it was just the kids and their drama, but even the adults keep undoing their own development. They had a really great thing going between Johnny and Daniel for first two episodes or so - it was awesome to see the beginnings of a friendship on screen, and how they can learn from each other - but unfortunately, the writers keep coming up with reasons for them to feud. They did get together again towards the very end, but that also happened last season, I could see them fighting again next season too. (Is it sacrilege to just want them to finally get along? haha)
But on the topic of character development - it really bothers me that despite focusing so much time to karate, they keep using it as a way to hurt each other, and you can't say it's just the Cobra Kai style because even the Miyagi-Do kids bully Kenny in the bathroom. I get that the Karate Kid universe is about rivalry and "karate incidents", and that I'm suppose to suspend my disbelief because drama has to happen... but at least one of the kids should take the learnings to heart at this point, especially the Miyagi-Do kids since we see them meditating and expect a message of positivity to come across. All of us viewers are learning from Mr. Miyagi, but the characters don't seem to be.
I think one of my favorite things of this season is the inclusion of Terry Silver. Even though I haven't watched his film, the actor's presence was great, and they managed to both explain away his craziness while also turning him into a villain again. All the characters continue to be fun to watch (though I could've done without Stingray again, honestly haha, I never feel like his brand of comedy fit the show) and they keep coming up with new situations to keep the show going, which is interesting.
I'm a little worried about Season 5 just because it seems Netflix is getting into a trend of extending some of its hits more than they should... but also, kind of interested, I guess we'll see.
i would say "this is another one of those netflix shows that shouldve only lasted one season but they ended up dragging it out too much and made it bad" except this one WAS NEVER GOOD IN THE FIRST PLACE
this season had some good screen play and camera work like that scene with kenny in the library was crazy but on the other hand most shots feel empty like they all live in these huge mansions that have no color and are almost completely empty
the script was just as cringy as always, literally just copy pasted the bullied kid that joins cobra kai and becomes the bully plot. at least they gave tory a deeper background now not just girl that goes boy crazy thing.
i hate this show but it is addictive i needed to see how they were gonna end this story and guess what i watched every single episode so i guess netflix got what they wanted
FFS i had written all of this with 20 minutes left of the last episode they clearly will try to make another season and i will watch it again no matter how much i hate it i need to know how this ends
maybe now they can finally make dan and johnny actually get along maybe even teach him miyagi-do but i dont expect much lol
After a middling second and third season, Cobra Kai returns with some force this time around. There's some incredibly talented martial artist performers used throughout the season which makes this show such a joy to watch. Many of the mainstay actors here are performing some of their best choreography that they've done. Story steps up a gear or two as well with the reintroduction of old antagonists. Yes, many of the minor characters lack any distinct acting gravitas, but I think we can let some of that slide.
From new characters, better production values, funny moments, drama moments and a lot of fights, this forth seasons all of what you would like to see and even surprise you with Mexican soap opera ending
This is easily the worst season. Now to be fair they managed to set up some really interesting stuff for the next season and Tori and Robby had probably the best comeback arcs of the series and I'm so glad they gave Hawk a proper redemption arc, he has the best arc in this show by far. But on to the bad stuff. The entire LaRusso or should I say "LaPusso" family was so insufferable this season. I wanted to punch Daniel in the face for the entire season, but I'm glad they gave him a nice arc. Sam was absolutely insufferable this season, I was rooting for Tori so hard during the All-Valley. Daniel's son is such a little shithead I was laughing my ass of when Kenny beat the shit out of him at the All-Valley. Also, they ruined Amanda, she was one of the few normal characters in the show and they ruined her.
Now the most egregious thing this show did this season was how they treated Miguel Diaz. Miguel is one of my favorite characters in all of fiction and they did him SO DIRTY this season. They better give him the all-star treatment next season. Also, they need to do more with Johnny. He is the main character of this show and it didn't really feel like he got to do all that much this season other than be mad at Daniel and date Miguel's mom. I really hope that Miguel and Johnny get a crazy arc next season, I think this show is being stretched out a little bit too much and I hope they wrap it up in Season 5 or 6.
Unfortunately, season 4 is my least favorite season of "Cobra Kai" yet. Mostly due to the fact that it's beginning to get a bit stale. The final two episodes were great, but everything prior to that was just alright.
Still, I'm ready for season 5. But I sort of hope that it's the last season, though Netflix probably wants to milk this property dry (I guarantee you they do a young Miyagi spin-off eventually). Also when is Hilary Swank going to surface as Mr. Miyagi's other student? Will it ever happen?
The only thing that let's it down is the terrible acting.
I love this Brilliant season
Very strong Season 4. The fight against Robby and Hawk was one of the best fights in Cobra Kai
I liked the first seasons but here it really got boring (until the tournament in the end of course). Always one karate club is provoking the other, there is a fight, there is revenge, more provoking, more revenge...
First season was charmingly bad but now it is just bad
After the 1st season that was good, it’s been worse every season, not sure why I’m still watching. 3/10

The first season was about struggle, about overcoming adversity. There was no right or wrong, there was life. This show is more straightforward now, more black and white. Simpler. I still love this show, but there are too many "main" characters now and their stories dont get fully realized. It´s still great and if you´re reading a review about a forth season, you´ve invested and you´re gonna love it. Cobra Kai never dies!
