Well, I was gonna comment... "they're Baaaaaack.....Sploosh!!!", but, I missed it by THAT much, that is, a week. Also, there was no "splooshing" in this episode, so, there's that. Didn't quite hit it out of the park this premier IMO, because they had to set up the underlying premise for this seasons story arc of the agencies takeover, sans Mallory (nicely sent off to the beach with her husband Ron Cadillac, voiced by her IRL husband, Ron Liebman, who, sadly too, has also passed away IRL... RIP) by their new corporate overlords IIA, and its speech impeded head honcho, Fabian.
Said takeover however will open up ample opportunities for Sterling and the crew to rail against the corporatocracy, even as Fabian tries to shoehorn and hamstring the crew by declaring them a niche, boutique spy agency, for clients still desiring a more "personal" touch, which, to my ear, sounds like Fabian-speak for "B" team assignments. Yet, he still exploits them by putting them in a situation that they are able to overcome, in spite of themselves, thanks mainly to Archers, (as well as the teams) as Fabian puts it "drunk luck".
But this only seems to reveal a more mature, nuanced Sterling Archer, who along with being the "worlds greatest secret agent", can, when he wants or needs to, actually be a good dad to AJ and a considerate ex to Lana, who, now it seems, is going to be embroiled in a custody battle with Robert (now also an ex) who is threatening to take AJ from her, more as a control tactic or punishment for daring to leave him rather than any actual altruism toward the child. But, thems the breaks when you marry a rich guy for his money, I guess. So, it should be fun to see how the team navigates their new circumstances, as well as the usual interpersonal landmines.

GD, that was worth the wait and the hole at the bottom of my soul is temporarily filled with giggles, and a wish...that I could remember dialog, and incorporate the lines into conversation! I know you're remembering the phrases I'm trying to!
Maybe if I watch it again twice more!!!
So good. H. Jon Benjamin makes us all want to be Archer. Aisha Tyler makes us all want to be worthy, and Judy Greer makes us wish we were one quarter more adventurous (but not more for safety reasons). Amber Nash makes me wish I had friends I could party with who could hang. Chris Parnell's character is a cautionary tale of how fragile hard earned success could be.
