[7.3/10] Plenty to like here, despite the fact that this is mostly a table-setting episode. I particularly enjoy Finn realizing how far he’s come as a peacenik and being naive but nevertheless going all-in as a “diplomacy boy” to try to avoid war.
Uncle Gumbald summoning his own Legion of Doom to take down Princess Bubblegum is a little cheesy, but there’s promise there. Makes me wonder if Lemongrab will get involved at some point.
Otherwise, I enjoyed the little details in this one. Jake being Finn’s hat led to all kinds of cute gags. Colonel Candy Corn’s lust for war was amusing. And Gumbald’s various attempt at a cake-based riposte were amusing as well.
Overall, more of a piece-mover than a full-fledged story, but some nice stuff involved.
