Easily the worst season of the bunch. The fallout of the big finale of last season was fun to watch unfold, and the best moments of the season are directly related to that. Everything else was fairly mediocre or downright terrible. Ani is also a terrible character, a needless addition, and genuinely a drag on the entire season as she acts as a narrator.
If you're still watching at this point to get a dose of high-school melodrama that spirals out of control, you'll get it, but it's definitely lost almost all of its luster that it barely maintained in the first place from the debut season.
Also please stop stretching the season by an extra few unnecessary episodes worth of content just to get that magic #13 episode count.
An unnecessary and boring season. I'm afraid the next one will be even worse.
Shocked at how bad this season was. Very disappointed. This girl is now the narrator and after every epsiode her story changes. I gets it's the show but horrible writing in that case. Plus Ali just a lying hoe, which again is disappointing. The way all woman are portrayed in this show is quite disrespectful. Do they really all just want to sleep with anything with a penis? I think not.
This season's premise makes two deeply flawed assumptions:
This season looks ugly. The colour palette has become super boring and the camera is constantly doing stupid things. The editing is awful and the show is really bad at keeping flashbacks and present clear and separate. It was bad at it before, but it's become worse. One of the central 'mysteries' of this season is "what happened to Tyler?" which is a question the audience already knows the answer to, so all the drama that comes out of it is boring and frustrating and unnecessary. They try to address some themes of sexual assault, but they don't have anything profound or nuanced to say about it, or really anything to say about it beyond the basic platitudes of "my story" and "down with the patriarchy".
This season is just a mess
2/10
Save yourselves the hustle and don't watch this season, all you need to know is that the rapist is dead! This season has a very weird message that I don't like.
As annoying as Ani could be at times, seeing the other side of Bryce made this a decent season overall. By flashing back and forth between Bryce and the people he hurt, it did a great job balancing two feats: (1) showing that he can't just be reduced to his worst action while at the same time (2) not making him likable enough that people want to sympathize with him or view him as a victim.
This show was dead after season 1 (and season 2 was subsequently one of the biggest wastes of time in television history), but bless the writers without any self-awareness who made season 3 an absolutely deranged masterpiece.
I read that It is the worst season of the bunch and I cannot totally disagree. Thus I think the main goal was reached and this is like a "memory" from another point of view. I enjoyed it and discovered Ani's character is interesting
I rated the same as season 2, but I liked this one a little better and I would like it even more if Ani didn't exist. For me, she's this annoying character, who thinks that knows it all and should not know anything. Doesn't make sense that they let someone joins their 'group' with so many secrets so easily.... This season is full of things that doesn't make sense and, worst than that, full of potential stories that could have more development, and it's all rushed in one season full of boring moments.
Tyler's abuse, Justin's addiction, Jessica's fight for the women's rights and even Bryce's redemption are some examples that they could explore more than this ridiculous narration of Ani about Clay and Bryce. For me, that's what makes me so dissapointed with this series, so many potential and they just wasted it. Since it's about Bryce, why is not him narrating the story?
I watched it just because I like some characters (Jessica, Justin, Tyler, Alex) and I'm curious about them, but this was so hard to watch.
This season was a cluster f*ck. I find the whole story, especially the ending, to be very irresponsible and a series of bad examples to set for kids. I mean what is this show teaching them? When your classmates are in trouble, instead of telling an adult, try do handle it yourself? If you can get away with a crime, you should? or cops can also be corrupted when sh!t hits close to home? I mean wtf.
Far too long and dragged out, but somehow also seems as if it tried to tackle ALL the current social justice issues in this one season. It had its moments, but mostly this season was just an affront to brevity. The narrator may have been necessary, but played out like a self-insert. I liked the conclusion tho. Don't think we need a 4th season but oh well.
Wow. The writers somehow managed to make me dislike Ani and Casey even more than Bryce in season 3. I'm aware of the reason that they had to create the Ani character, but what a horrible character. I think it was a terrible idea to make her the narrator of the season. They would have been better off either continuing to let Clay narrate or even let Bryce narrate which would make his side of the story make even more sense. Honestly I felt like giving up and discontinuing to watch the rest of the season multiple times solely because of their choice to have Ani narrate. It is completely illogical that the group would willingly divulge all that information to some new random person who they've only known for a few months. It's completely ridiculous and unreal to say the least. Casey was just such a hateful annoying bitch, no love for her at all. What kind of person would act like that toward somebody at a meeting like that? How does she assume to know anything about somebody that she doesn't even know? That just unnecessarily discourages others from coming forward. I think Tyler would have to be my favorite character of the season.
I really loved this season. Yes, they went in a new direction by creating a murder mystery but it was very well written and still focused on the core message of the show. I love how everyone came together this season. This season was like previous dark but the main difference was that this season also focused on survival. Tyler for example, Hannah chose to die there was a lot of aftermath to be dealt with but with Tyler you see a positive outcome which brings back some hope for people who struggle with similair problems. Same counts for Jessica and Justin.
A great conclusion to the series, and perfectly wraps everything up. Much better than Season 2 was, though without S2 it wouldn't have got this far. The arcs for each character was amazing to see. However, I dont understand the need for Ani. For kids that were extremely secretive, dealing with all that crap, Ani just shows up and automatically gets roped into the whole thing and knows everyone's secrets. I will say that the timeskips were quite confusing. Overall a great ending to the franchise, and left me feeling pretty satisfied.
I was hoping this would be the end, but honestly, it seems they could be setting up for another season.

A fun season despite all the nonsense, plot holes and the extremely confusing timeline
