The Mortuary Collection 2020

Nice anthology of mini horror movies that sort of tie together. It was a good watch for a fall night on October 15th. Don’t hesitate if you’re in the mood for this kind of thing.

Episode 10x05
Anthology of horror stories that has reminded me of Poe at times. I really liked the stories and the movie in general. With a small budget, the writer and director gets gold.
I'm not very clear about what audience it is aimed at because at first I thought it was something almost childish with touches of terror but as the movie progressed I realized that that was not the target audience.
Maybe that look is because of the low budget, still ... I LOVED IT

From a squid living in a medecine cabinet to a pregnant man taking a literal diarrhea dump on his friends, The Mortuary Collection is like a horror film made by someone who's never seen a horror film before but is going off of descriptions made someone else who only speaks flag semaphore.

Pretty messed up. Maybe more so than a Tales from the Crypt episode. There’s actually some good twists here and there.

Very bad film the whole film I was just bored only that the end of the film was a bit interesting thanks to that end I rate 4 points otherwise I would give 3.

No, it’s not the scariest film, but it’s a lot of fun and in that regard, it reminded me a lot of Trick ‘r Treat. Super-fun, great direction, solid stories, well-acted and packaged together in a neat and bloody package.

This was a lot of fun and entertaining from start to finish. Definitely had a Creepshow vibe. I thought the Babysitter Murders story was absolutely brilliant and so well executed, that I had to rewatch it to see how I had misinterpreted the clues. The ending of the movie is an open invitation for a sequel. Hopefully there will be one (or a couple).

A modern Tales from the Crypt with equally modern woke storytelling and overly colorful fairy-esque vibe. The main character is the quirky, kinda annoying, pretty know-and-do-it-all stuck with modern cuisin Lurch. All the other characters are parodies of humans and exactly the type you would find in any new-fantasy film like Harry Potter. At least theyre not using made-up words like Snuffleboggin or Hicklefuck...

Due to the way this movie is shown it feels extremely long. The stories themselves didnt really capture my fancy and the in between scenes were fairly useless stitching them all together.

Good genre mix of horror elements in this anthology. Clancy Brown is a strong central presence and there are enough twists to make this a fun, fast paced flick.

[Sitges FF] A horror anthology that works well thanks to its mix of gothic genre and slasher cult. The stories are entertaining and there is a staging that shows the director's fondness for the genre. All the segments have an average level much higher than any of the recent anthologies released in TV show format, and they are well linked, with a plot twist that works. A pleasant surprise.

I definitely did watch this movie to see Jacob Elordi’s penis explode, but in the end I had thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this movie. My favourite had to be the third story, the end to that where they were floating in the elevator gave me the chills, I loved it so damn much.

I thought it was a pretty good anthology movie. Not as good a Trick 'r Treat, but still entertaining.

3 Thoughts After Watching ‘The Mortuary Collection’:

  1. That childbirth scene was… memorable.

  2. There were some original and creative ideas here, some decent twists. I like the way the stories got progressively more complex. But the potential was hampered down by a few flawed performances and some lazy writing.

  3. For the final story, I loved how the juxtaposition of the stereotypical babysitter slasher film on the television helped fuel the twist of the main story.

Bonus Thought: Could that woman in the first story have tried leaving that bathroom ANY SLOWER? Infuriating.

Clancy Brown is decent. The stories let him down... weak and silly for the most part.

What a solid anthology! This movie makes the correct decision in not trying to reinvent the wheel but to make a solid, fun, very well done wheel. The variety of styles among the segments is also a great choice and this movie has pumpkin spice vibes to spare. Really enjoyed it.

Meh. Just meh. Not worth watching unless you feel like listening to something while napping.

Its an okay Horror anthology. Unfortunately the editing team removed many scenes that should have been in the movie. Better watch Deleted scenes to get a whole idea.

Great anthology! Could be better at the end but still twisty and spooky mini horror movies
