I love this movie, I would say it is in my top 5 favourite movies. I love how the characters are portrayed and I love the deviations from the book. The chemistry between Ben and Cassie is undeniable and I completely ship it. I hope they make a sequel of it, although I am not hopefully reading all these comments.
An interesting movie..very realistic......

Love love love this movie and I don’t care if I’m in the minority. The part about the aliens secretly integrating into the government to make the humans destroy themselves was the writers at their finest. Genuinely hoping somehow they make another one, or even better a show sort of like Jericho about rebuilding after disaster
thought it was really good, hope it gets sequels
Great movie with lots of plot twists! Chloe Moretz is a brilliant actress and she carries the film wonderfully.
the movie is so good, even for the book fans because if the references that are "hide" in the movie. chloe moretz is awesome
Not bad but I new straight away that the "army adults" were the others. nothing special at all with this film and was a little disappointing. Good for the older kids.
Wasn't all that bad... bit predictable tho.
Guess if you've seen one, you've seen most...
Will watch the the next one.
Not so bad survival movie with alien plot.
The world in under an alien attack which comes in 5 waves. The first wave brings power cuts, the second tsunami and earthquakes, the 3th sickness and after that the aliens are among the people. No one can be trusted and among this all is a girl called Cassie trying to find back her little brother Sam. On her way she meets Evan Walker who lives alone in the middle of the forrest and has a well kept secret. She also stumbles into her old high school crush Ben Parish, who is now a soldier with his own squad. One thing they have in common, they all want the aliens gone.
I love the cast of this movie, so perhaps that made the movie better for me. I know there are a huge load of these kind of movies and they are all sort of the same and this is just another one of them. I did enjoy the story though and I’m curious about what is going to happen next (I’ll probably read the books because I don’t want to wait). I liked the plottwist in the movie, didn’t see that one coming.
Okay so as I said before, there are so many movies like this one lately and I just don’t have a lot to say about it anymore I guess. I still enjoy watching these “teens who kill” movies a lot, they are very enjoyable. For me so was The 5th Wave.
This film was better than I was expecting it to be. The post apocalyptic element was great and I loved seeing the bond that Cassie had for her brother. The main let down for me was the weird convoluted romance - that really just was not needed.
Average teenage fare. Teenagers forced to face an apocalyptic world with no adult input only evil adults. It felt more like a TV series than a movie. I give it a 7 (good for its niche) out of 10.
The lovelovelove was totally unnecessary, but well... young adult movies eh.
was OK until the end, which was sloppy and cheesy. who cares about those boring romances, what happened to the aliens? so many unanswered questions and all we got was some kids kissing, great
Not great. Not terrible.
Didn't read the books but probably if I did I would have given this a higher score.
Divergent , Maze Runner and The Hunger Games where much more better than this movie.
The story actually had potential but the piss-poor execution kinda ruined it. It was too dumb, too unbelievable, too superficial, too rushed, too… mweh. I never started caring about the characters or the plot, which meant the movie just left me cold
The movie wasnt something special and for the ones wondering about what happend to the aliens acually the millitary was behind it all
The ending made me laugh. I don't want to spoil anything, but it's nice that you mention hope saving you in the end, even though the aliens are still present according to the ending. :joy:
It could have been better.
Started out quite exciting, but then it got weird - rushed lovestory, children army, and no real solution.. I guess second part is coming. I'm not going to watch it though.
Seems to be a kids movie, except for all the explicit gore. A bit too obvious. And all-bullshit. Maybe if they would have not tried to leave an open ending for a sequel, then it would have been a bit faster and more enjoyable. The whole Even Walker-Rambo-character was so way out of place with his "and I chose you and I will kill all aliens because they dont believe in love" really killed it off entirely. But I knew already what was going on with the first look at Vosch. Too obvioooooooous.
The fifth wave was not bad, bud I don't think it was very good either. It is a lot like the maze runner series, but I think it falls a little short. If you like the maze runner series you might enjoy it. Don't expect it to be an award winning movie. If you keep that in mind and enjoy maze runner and even hunger games it might be worth watching.
The 6th Wave: Disappointment
Having not read the source novel on which this film is based I am unable to compare the two. The film does not make me want to seek it out. The special effects are good but the story is a bit of a mess and the romantic angle slows down the pacing.
The 7th Wave: Remove it from my Amazon wishlist.
Even if this movie was twice as good, its ending ruined it and is just plain lazy.
It is easily better than the Maze Runner series (which doesn't say that much) and it has its high points. But it simply doesn't dare to be unique enough. I hoped for a more ' Skyline' or 'Super 8' kind of approach, which weren't amazingly good movies but are very memorable because of some very strong selling points. Unfortunately it is more like an upgraded version of 'Red Dawn'/'Tomorrow When The War Begins', but with this time the invading party is alien.
Just for fans of Chloe, oh and still a better love story than Twilight
Sci-fi movie for teens. Recommending to those who liked Divergent and Maze Runner trilogy
the movie was OK at the best. the only thing that had me watching the show was because of the blonde Chloe.
Was OKish until the alien who fell in love with the main character after seeing her once saved them all. Ugh.
Hmm. Watched this last night, only to realise when updating Trakt that I'd already seen it before - obviously not that memorable a movie.
In the beginning you had me... then I started doing other things. Glanced up and down catching bits, its just looses steam. Seen better low budget horror movies. Watch once only if you REALLY like sci-fi, I do unfortunately.
This is one of those rare moments when I found the movie to be better than the book. Of course, given the book, it is difficult to be worse than. The plot points in the movie that seem idiotic? Straight from the book.
It felt like half the story was missing.
Too bad for a good book... nothing special
Had potential , should have been more on the attacks and poor ending.
Was OKish until the alien who fell in love with the main character after seeing her once saved then all. Ugh.
It was not bad, reminded me of the good episodes of Fallings skies, the twists provisibles
The lips of Chloe... Only this
Kids loved it... Go figure ppphhhffrrrrttt
Trash is the only word that i can say about this movie. take my advice and don't waste your time while watching this terrible movie.
I didn't know absolutely nothing about the movie I didn't even see the trailer before I went to the cinema. I liked the first half of the movie with it's waves of disasters and people trying to survive. But as it started to turn more and more to a teenage lovestory I suddenly noticed a bunch of teenagers seated around me in the cinema. I got fooled into thinking that it's a real sci-fi disaster movie. The effects were cool and all that but if you're over 30 I strongly suggest to think about whether to watch it or not.
The 6th wave was the wave of people leaving the theater during the movie.
I wish I got hit by 5 waves of cars
It has been a waste of time watching this poor and bad movie. A total nonsense. A so powerful alien race, able to travel the universe, unable to blow stupid humans.....hilarious. It is a teenager comedy, nothing more.
Feels like it is a fever dream of an adolescent. Nothing special here as the script is an adject failure in most respects. So much stuff makes zero sense to do but they do it anyway. Was bored one night and decided to give it a go. 2 hours I'm not going to get back.
I watched the movie first, then read the book, then re-watched the movie. I thought the movie, upon first watch, was okay but disconnected. After re-watching it became worse, much worse. It is much more disconnected from the book. At first, the movie follows the book somewhat close, but then it just diverts completely in the 3rd act, which in which the screen writers did a really poor job of adapting; the book was written much more cleanly.
The movie also doesn't allow you to connect to any characters other than Cassi, which is sad, because the book does a much better job of describing the relationship Ben and his team have while training before they are sent off, and also about Cassi and Evan's relationship. It's cut off or shortened a lot in the movie.
Tudo muito bem feitinho e tal... é um novo pretendente a "Twilight"... teen movie inofensivo repleto de banalidades de revirar os olhos.
Oh God, what the hell was that? I'm so glad I didn't go to the cinema because of this movie... It was so clear who are the others since the half of the movie so no surprise. What was that about? Oh yeah, two people in the woods. Screenplay: bad, Direction: bad, Actors: average. 4 points is the max. I can give this.
There was not a single moment in this movie that made me care about what was happening or made me believe the characters could do any of that. By the way, the romance is incredibly silly and rushed. I read about a 100 pages before deciding to drop it. Oh boy, was I right.
One word: M E H
Bastardized and most predictable sci-fi flick I've seen in ages. Pity i wasn't the lucky one being killed with just the first wave. Two hours of stupidity in full effect. I need a drink.
The 6th wave was the wave of people leaving the theater during the movie.
Lots of bad CGI and questionable writing. The ending screams, "Please give us a sequel!" but there almost certainly won't be one.
Watched it while cooking, got bored regardless. Dreadful script, meh acting, what was Schreiber doing there? Did he have a castle to paint or something?
I was not really expecting much but was even disappointed with having such low expectations…
Just a big waste of time
One of the worst movies I've seen in the past few years. Just ew.
A sci-fi for kids, nothing more. Oh and the aliens look like humans….
They should label this: Don´t watch after you´re out of puberty.
Lost interest when they started with the kid soldier thing. Read the rest of the plot up. Glad I didn´t watch it any further than I did.
Twilight Saga meet Hunger Games.
this would have been way better as a 1 season show, but they had to do it for the cinema and rush everything, at the end of the movie, I was asking myself what did I actually watch in 2 hours? it felt like 10 minutes, no character development, this might just be the basic-est movie I've ever seen.
They ruined the books. What a shame. This book had great potential.
This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen.
This is absolute garbage. Watch, if your brain is 12 years old, otherwise, find something else to waste your time with.
Nothing special, another young adult fiction / sci-fi teen movie
The first half I was interested. It went down hill around the 4th wave and the ending was ehhh
First of all, I didn't read the book, so couldn't compare to that. In my opinion, the movie was a waste of my time. I couldn't really get into it, because of the rushed start. And then, after the rushed start, everything just went into slowmotion and it got boring. Didn't like it at all, but maybe when the second installment comes out, I'd like to see both after eachother. Maybe that would make more sense to me, and make a whole story instead of half.
Had high hopes for this film but ended up being poor. Shame.
A lot of the build-up has been cut and they have skipped or changed a lot so we don't get to go on the same journey the book took us on. Shame when the book and its characters were so good. Good watch nonetheless. Recommend the books more (Zombie is my favourite POV)

Fantastic movie, great special effects, but saddened that they left important characters out. These other commenters don't know what they're talking about. If they had read the book, they would understood just how incredible this movie really is, especially compared to the likes of Maze Runner.
