This surprised me in that it had a good, deep story to it. It felt more like an adult movie than a family movie. Really engrossing. Less comedy than I though there would be.
A fun, action-packed animated film with some timeless themes and life lessons thrown in. A bit too goofy at times and the comedy didn't always land, but was still an entertaining watch.
The best parts for me were the words of wisdom from Master Oogway. There were so many great quotes. That alone made the movie worth the watch.
A good but surprisingly unfunny DreamWorks animation entry. I don't think it was meant to be unfunny though so that was a problem for me. Add that to the glut of martial arts movies of the recent past and there isn't much left that "Kung Fu Panda" has going for it. Yes the animation was top-notch and there were some well timed and flashy fight sequences. But the voice work was ordinary and Jack Black was just Jack Black (again). He's like Tom Cruise. Every movie he's in he's Tom Cruise not a character played by Tom Cruise. Same thing with Jack Black. Anyway this movie will play much better to kids than adults. You'll enjoy it more if you watch it with some hyperactive younglings.
Entertainment in its purest form.
Seth Rogen is horribly miscast here. Aside from that, this is excellent.
There's a fine line between profound and silly which is very tricky to pull off, and KFP does it nearly perfectly. It's funny and action-packed, with beautiful animation and dynamic camerawork (despite some occasionally dated CGI). The voice cast is impeccable (aside from Mantis), and the score really helps ground the movie in its setting. Add to that a simple, heartwarming story and you've got all the ingredients for my secret ingredient movie!
"To make something special you just have to believe it's special."
Just as good as the first time I watched it. Jack Black is so wholesome in this you can help but smile while watching it. The action is pretty stellar and the colors pop. Can't wait to rewatch this with my kid in a few years.
A great animated wuxia journey with Jack Black. Very enjoyable to watch, but I am biased to Jack Black.
A movie that you appreciate more as you grow older. Great score, great voice actors, and a great story.
a movie titled Kung Fu Panda has no right to be this good
"Kung Fu Panda" is a truly fantastic film that deserves a rating of 9 out of 10. It's a thrilling, heartwarming, and visually stunning film that will leave audiences feeling uplifted and inspired. The animation is top-notch, the characters are lovable, and the story is well-written. The pacing is well-done and the dialogue is clever and witty. The film has something for everyone and it's a must-watch for anyone who loves animated films. It is definitely one of the best-animated movies in the world.
Why is this movie so good? It really shouldn't be, but it is somehow.
good funny and cute movie
I went in with very low expectations but left very impressed, the story is enjoyable, great animations, scenes & animation, a great film to watch alone or with anyone.
great movie. the very best was the Turtle Master. And Jack Black perfectly fits into this role. haha, get it? he 'fits' in. Because.... he is... ah okay, you get it.
Rating: 8/10
A fun and entertaining watch but nothing more!
This film is such a delight, as well as funny and charming. Though the fight in the end has always sort of disappointed me. Since it’s goofy.
Kung Fu Panda is an animated DreamWorks film, directed in 2008 by Mark Osborne and John Stevenson. It tells the story of a panda that, while helping his father in the noodle shop, dreams of becoming a martial arts master. When, one day, by chance, it sees himself thrown into the world of the Jade Palace to be educated, it is considered a hopeless case because of its physical form. Fortunately it manages to surprise everybody when the ferocious Tai Lung decides to return to destroy the valley.
The cartoon is a nice tribute to the world of martial arts and a great motivator for the children that can reflect themselves in the main character, Po. In fact, first of all, it is able to pick itself up in a bullying situation and to gain the respect of his “enemies” and, secondly, it shows how if you really want something and work to get it in a merry way, you may realize your dreams. Not to mention the fact that Po is an atypical hero, fat and with food problems – a very common thing in children today, but little shown in movies and on television – who uses his strengths to improve itself. The secondary characters are very nice, especially master Shifu that reminds me of Yoda from Star Wars, and the five cyclones that refer to the five styles of imitative kung fu: Tiger, Snake, Crane, Mantis and Monkey.
wasnt as funny as i initially suspected. didnt like it too much actually
Really funny.
If you like martial arts this is another great look at it.
I don't like this movie at all.
My first view and gotta say, pretty great and with a fantastic atmosphere, choreography and animation.
A bona fide classic from the Golden Age of DreamWorks. It's not just the Nostalgia Goggles on this one folks, they just don't make 'em like that any more
Great surprise, jokes were fun and I liked the story.
The depth within these movies goes deep. I was shaken with the wisdom, especially from Master Oogway. The animation and voice acting was major show off. This movie is beautiful.
Who else prefers mean Tigress in this than nice Tigress in 2 and 3?
the intro sequence style of animation, that then transitions into the actual movie's art style / animation was very well done
the subtle jokes that are delivered perfectly with the voice acting, especially Po's, loved it
Tai Lung's escape scene was amazing, and that shot of the red arrows raining down upon him as he jumps to reach the platform and use it as a shield? b e a u t i f u l.
not to forget, Hans Zimmer's music never fails to leave an impression on me, and he did an incredible job with Kung Fu Panda's soundtrack
An absolute delight that must be one of my favorite movies. Since I can’t count how many times I have watched it.
Plot already seen in many other kids (and grown-up) movies. Technically it is good, and it makes you hungry.
You know, I appreciate these films. They never reach the heights of the Toy Story trilogy, but it’s certainly not the swamp of the Despicable Me or Ice Age movies either. In fact, this very much feels like a quintessential Dreamworks movie: solid entertainment, but not super boundary pushing or ambitious either. The best thing it has going for it are the characters and animation. It’s filled with plenty of great, colourful characters (none of whom are as iconic as the ones from Shrek, but still very well defined) and the animation is creative and fun. I love the use of colour and contrast, it’s punchy and interesting, although never as awe inspiring as a Pixar movie. The coolest bit of animation is in the first scene, I kinda wish they’d stuck with that style for the rest of the movie. Now, the biggest flaw with this one clearly lies with the story. It’s very conventional, and you pretty much know exactly how everything will play out after the first couple of scenes (which it does). I also think there’s an overreliance on slapstick (yes, I get that clumsiness is built into Po’s character, but they still overuse it). I wish there were more regular jokes, though I certainly laughed. Some of the set pieces are clear highlights throughout the film (tournament, bridge fight, training montage), but the third act is a little underwhelming. Part of that is due to the villain being pretty boring, but it also gets way too goofy for its own good.
6/10
From DreamWorks comes the fun and action-packed animated film Kung Fu Panda. When a Kung Fu master has a vision of the notorious criminal Tai Lung breaking free from prison, he selects a Panda named Po to be the Dragon Warrior that will protect the valley from evil. The cast features the voice talents of Jake Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, and Ian McShane, who all deliver strong performances. And, the animation is especially good, with creative character designs for all the various animals. The story however, is a bit weak and the setup is rather odd. Still, overall Kung Fu Panda is an entertaining family film with a positive message about faith and courage.

Well, it's good, but a little tedious at times. I expected something better.

Still a wonderfully passionate and well crafted film. Killer choreography and way more emotional depth than you’d expect at first glance.
