Girl, interrupted is based on true events. When I first saw this movie in my teenage years, I loved it. I loved Lisa as a character and the overall feeling I’ve got while watching it. Now, few years later, I still love the dialogues but now I’m more focused on stunning Angelina’s performance as well as Viona’s. They are Acteress wit the capital A. Also the soundrack is amazing.
The movie was a little bit slow action but what an impressive acting Ms.Jolie! Mental health matters.Mental health is a serious issue that must be talked about openly don’t be afraid of to say something if you are unwell or scared for your own life.
First time I saw this, I found Angelina spellbinding. I still find her performance captivating, but the whole sociopath thing is so transparently obvious now-and therefore a real turnoff. Now I find I am way more intrigued by Brittany Murphy than I am Jolie, as Brittany manages to humanize and sweeten the chicken eating laxative girl who is sexually abused by a parent.
This is from another time yet it really does capture what it's like in a psych ward.
Girl, Interrupted is a compelling psychological drama based on the memoir by Susana Kaysen. After a suicide attempt a troubled young girl finds herself committed to a psychiatric hospital and must find her way back to sanity through her madness. Both Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie give brilliant, captivating performances, and are backed by a strong supporting cast that includes Brittany Murphy, Clea DuVall, and Whoopi Goldberg. Also, the directing is exceptionally well-done and enhances the psychological themes of the film. And, the soundtrack perfectly complements the tone and setting. A fascinating look at the struggles of mental illness, Girl, Interrupted is an extraordinarily powerful and moving film.
I wasn't expecting this to be good, really enjoyable and well acted.
I have been meaning to watch this for the longest time. It wasn't actually as disturbing as I thought it would be, which was a good surprise. Some of the characters were a bit caricatured and that would be my biggest issue with the film. Angelina steals the show. My favourite scene I think is the one after Daisy's suicide when Susanna is in her bed talking to Val about her depression, just because I thought it was such a simple and sensible way to describe it .
8/10
What a perfomance from both Angelina and Ryder they were amazing! 7.4/10
A girl decides to live in the world which might be crazy and full of lies
Well deserved Oscar, Angelina.
Good movie. The main role is for Winona Ryder, but it crumbles to nothing in comparison with that of Angelina Jolie.
