In the beginning it's bad but it get's better towards the end of the movie,
i loved the first movie but this is nothing like the first one.
Putting Mater into the spotlight was a lousy choice. Sidekicks and comic reliefs should stay in their position, I say.
I loved it, and so did my nephew. This is a kids movie and much much much better than most sequels.
Yes, it's one of Pixar's weakest efforts, but it's still decently entertaining. I would think kids should dig it enough. Some of stereotypes are funny, even if they're fairly uninspired.
Quite entertaining, the scenery/artwork for the car race in Italy was awesome.
1 point for the animation, and another for... oh yeah, why did I rate this a 2 and not a 1?
My kid loves Finn McMissle
I like 'Cars 2'.
It doesn't deserve to be held in the same bracket as 2006's 'Cars', but that doesn't mean there's not a good time to be had with it. The premise mixes motorsport with espionage, admittedly they don't execute it incredibly but it's still satisfactory to see unfold.
One slight negative is that they give Mater more screen time than Lightning McQueen, which is a mistake. Larry the Cable Guy as Mater is enjoyable, just not front and center as the lead. They could've done a similar plot that has Owen Wilson and McQueen at the forefront. Elsewhere, Michael Caine (Finn) is always a joy to listen to; even if his character isn't anything special.
The racing stuff is cool, with the World Grand Prix. The parts of the story involving strictly that are definitely more entertaining than the spy stuff, especially as we get to see a few different countries via animation - which come out nicely.
All in all, a weaker film than the first for sure but it's still pretty solid for a Disney animated sequel.
First off, a little personal history: All the way back in 1995, I received a computer game as a Christmas gift called Putt-Putt Goes to the Moon. My mom didn't even know what it was; I still can hear her saying, "What is that? A golf game?" Despite its title, it had nothing to do with any sport; Putt-Putt was actually an anthropomorphic purple convertible that actually gets launched on a rocket to the Moon while visiting a fireworks factory. As the game progresses, that titular vehicle does everything from save an alien from moon goo to play the arcade game Bear Stormin' to meet up with an abandoned NASA Rover...and, eventually makes it back to terra firma. I quickly got addicted to that game, and soon got my hands on not only other Putt-Putt titles, but also others from the same developer, Humongous Entertainment. One of their games, Let's Explore the Airport, I awaited owning for well over a year, playing the demo to death the whole time. Words can't describe my excitement when my mom randomly decided to purchase it for me as an end-of-school reward.
Fast forward to 2004: I hadn't touched any Humongous Entertainment games in years, but I did fondly remember playing them on my first Mac, which was long gone. That November, I went with some friends from church to see The Incredibles in theaters, where the trailer for the first Cars flick was unveiled. As you can imagine, those Putt-Putt games were the first thing I thought of; it was almost like a 3-D version of a childhood favorite. I actually didn't see Cars until well after it came out on DVD, but I enjoyed it, particularly the vehicle-themed spoofs of other Pixar films during the end credits.
That was years ago; the Cars franchise is now a trilogy, and I'm just now seeing the second outing. What did I think? Honestly, I had a blast with it; the action and intensity was on point, and Mater's triumph over dire circumstances was very inspiring. I loved the voice actors, especially the female British spy, Holley Shiftwell. As usual, the animation was excellent. Despite what some people may think, I think this is another winner from the studio that pioneered computer animation; it was vastly superior to the last one I sat through: the dreadful, nerve-grating Incredibles 2. If you like family-friendly action/adventure flicks, this one is for you.
For all the positive goodwill that the first Cars film had, this film was a relative disappointment. Not the best of Pixar.
Great movie I enjoyed it
loved this one!
Good
Pretty nice, for kids mostly..
Saw it 3d and wasn't impressed however on normal tv fantastic.
In some ways, it's better than the first one.
I thought it was good. Not exactly the Pixar quality we all became used to, but still pretty good.
A massive disapointed compared to the original. I expected A LOT MORE!
Hugely disappointing. It might be okay for some random off-the-shelf animation movie, but expecting Pixar quality I actually wanted to turn it off after half an hour because it's so bleak. I think kids might enjoy it though.
I wouldn't say horrible but I would call it boring. The writers should go back to Saturday morning cartoons.
More larry the Cable fuck yay
The weakest Pixar movie I've seen...
I watched this as a tribute for my dad's birthday present. I thought it would be okay, since i had likes the first one when it Came out but now i realize- Definitely meant for a younger crowd!! No doubt about it
The first one, was so much better.
Why does this G-rated movie have so much murder
Pretty good sequel to a film that did not need a sequel. The continuing story of the race car Lightning McQueen leaves back off at a few years later after he has won a few more championships and has full embraced his life in Radiator Springs and putting it back on the map. What seemed like it was going to be as fun trip for him and his best friend, Mater, going to another country to expand his racing brrand in an international race, turns out to be a plot twisting edge of your seat adventure with spy espionage. With that said, although entertaining, there were a couple things wrong; only a few main characters from the beloved first film were in the movie for a good amount of the film and the action scenes were a bit graphic with gunfire for being a kids rated movie.
Alright movie, terrible as a sequel. This should have been a standalone film instead of being "cars 2". Even the creators were so ashamed of it that Cars 3 completely disregards that this movie ever happened. The story is bad and the animation looks so aged even compared to the first movie.
Well, this is easily the worst movie to have ever been made by Pixar.
On the surface, it didn't seem like there was much cause for a direct sequel to this franchise, but given their track record I had to give Pixar the benefit of the doubt. In execution, it didn't take long for those early worries to be confirmed. It's like a jumbo-sized TV episode with incredible production values but a weak script. Where the original was, clearly, the worst of Pixar's properties, at least it had an honest message at heart; the abundance of interstates and high speed travel has ruined the necessity and charm of small-town America, and Cars existed to both mourn and celebrate that lost taste of cultural charm.
By comparison, there's really no reason for Cars 2 to exist. It's a straight-up Saturday morning cartoon, introducing its audience to caper after caper without the benefit of a discernible moral. And while there's really nothing wrong with that - there's an insatiable need for kid's fodder on the big screen, certainly - it's depressing to see it come from the same company responsible for generation-transcending classics like Monsters Inc., Toy Story and Up. While it'll undoubtably sell plenty of toys, this was the wrong movie at the wrong time for Pixar, and a rare instance of the studio losing ground to the competition.
The first Cars was ok but this one is really bad. I don't know why they thought cars spies would be cool or why they spent so much time focusing on Mater.
I didn't really like the original, but liked this movie a bit more :)
If you liked the first one, then this one is a good go!
If you love cars in general, the work done here on tones of real car is just awsome !

This film is not as bad as people make it out to be. If you like spy films, then you may like this, although I do feel like some of it was unnecessary though
