I'm mainly interested in seeing how many I can actively see and maybe motivate me to kill my watchlist by doing so. Can't speak for the industry's issues but it shouldn't matter what the gender of the filmmaker is really. Things like this is also selling people short but w/e.

In our latest round of research, Exploring the Careers of Female Filmmakers: Phase III, we found that one of the barriers for female directors is a perceived scarcity of talent pool and experience. Many of those surveyed couldn’t name a female director. Can you believe that? There are over one thousand female directors on The Director List, 1300 female directors at the DGA and 45 who have helmed a $25 million movie in the last 13 years. Note that if a critic ranks more than the standard 10 films, we will not include films ranked 11th or worse. (Beginning this year, we do include unranked lists of 11-20 titles, though each film gets just one-half of a point.) In case of a tie for first or second, each film will receive the full points for that position.

The British Independent Film Award for Best British Independent Film is an annual award given by the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) to recognize the best British independent film. The award was first presented in the 1998 ceremony with Ken Loach's romantic drama My Name Is Joe being the first recipient of the award. The current winner is All of Us Strangers.
The award goes to the writers, producers and directors that are fully credited for the film. According to the rules presented by BIFA, in order for a film to be considered "independent" and therefore be eligible for this award and the other categories, the financing of the film must come from an independent studio or does not exceed a budget of $22.5 million in case of a production from a major studio. Additionally, the origination of the film will also be taken into account when assessing the independence of studio-backed films, this referring to "whether it was initially conceived inside or outside of a studio system".
