Ant-Man 2015

Basic Marvel fare. Capable people involved on every level, but a weak and predictable plot, overly safe stylistically, takes no risks - ever -, good mix of action and comedy, but ultimately forgettable and just one of many. At this point, the Marvel Cinematic Universe should really be treated like an Ensemble Cast TV show rather than a film series. Most of it is essentially an extended, big-budget TV episode. There's no attempt on any level to create anything more than some easily disgested franchised popcorn fare. Which isn't a bad thing, but gets tiring once you release 2-4 films a year in the universe and NONE of them ever live up to their potential. None of them has a distinctive visual style or amazing soundtrack, none of them takes any plot risks or asks any interesting questions. So far, there hasn't been a truly great Marvel flick. DC had a couple with the Dark Knight trilogy at least.
