I wonder when the point will come when the "fans" are getting enough of the MARVEL craze. This one had little effort put into it. Whenever it didn't feel like a video game there was a generic mix of action and often misplaced comedy. We see too little of the villain and his threat to even care, turning him a cardboard-cutout and resulting in a lackluster final fight. But it's not only the bad guy that is rather one dimensional... no one get's developed leaving all the performers looking bored (and Loki is just hiding behind facades). I really enjoyed Avengers but never really cared much about the standalone movies and this formularic mess doesn't exactly increase my appreciation but looking at most people's rating and the money put down for this we are not yet at the point...
