Succession 2018

Finished my first rewatch last night. I will be starting another one soon with my friend who hasn’t watched it. Genuinely a perfect show, there’s no other way to put it. Never a single flashback but Jesse Armstrong is amazing at alluding to/contextualizing certain traits, traumas, and feelings these characters have/go through, a lot of the time without ever having to specifically say it. Not to mention the actors are extremely expressive (also just so talented as a whole) and you can almost completely understand even subtle things that trigger these character’s rage and traumas just by the look of on their face or their body language. In an interview Jeremy Strong said that “Succession is a story about the legacy of abuse” and…Yeah. Watching with that in mind and the rewatch in general made me realize/notice things I hadn’t even considered the first time around, without giving spoilers I can say that scenes that I found weirdly funny or odd during my first watch of the show broke my heart the second time around. Also the humor, I’ve never seen jokes in television implied so fucking well into the story, almost no joke in this show is a throwaway joke, they always end up genuinely tying it into the story and in some instances a joke will be set up episodes (even a season or two) before the joke is ever made + not a single continuity mess up throughout the ENTIRE show. I could go on for hours, I’ve genuinely never watched a show this good and this is just me being broad, If I tried to talk about a single character here this comment would never end. So if you haven’t watched it, Seriously…I missed out for too long, YOU HAVE TOO!! I don’t think a single person regrets watching this show (other than it will emotionally hurt you so bad but in the best possible way). It’s perfect in my opinion and maybe just definitively. Theres certain episodes I’ll have to comment on separately. I can’t, if you haven’t watched yet put it at the top of your watch list. Seriously. Much love!
