His Dark Materials 2019

Like many others have pointed out, this adaptation was heavily compressed. I read the first book in my childhood, so some of the memories are hazy, but I was able to understand the events and characters better in the first series than the second or third. There are events that require viewers who haven't seen the books to put away their mind, and just accept the scene as it unfolds.

Additionally, sometimes characters aren't allowed to process and react to heavy moments on screen. And in a few cases, it would make sense to dedicate an additional scene to them processing it internally. It's odd, as there are scenes (both action and drama) that stay for too long, where fractions of seconds could've been shaved to give a few seconds to show the character's reaction.

It's definitely the better adaptation IMO, but it could've been given more screen time.
