The Collector 1965

The Collector is a psychological horror movie, that feels more like a gothic horror and less a slasher.
No nudity, no blood - aside from a splash at the end.
Being just short of two hours, the movie is far too long. Several parts needed to be cut, and I was definitely losing interest at the midpoint. However, the ending was great; I was not expecting that.
The obvious comparison here is going to be Psycho (1960), though unlike that movie, this is very subdued. It's mostly just two actors in one location; neither of whom play their part over the top. In that sense, the movie felt more real.
I can see that this must have had a big influence on horror movies that would have come later.
I would totally recommend this to fans of classic horror, especially the slow, subtle variety.
