I love the work of Martin Scorsese, but this one not so much. Especially Amsterdam's flashbacks with that strange music jumping in and cutting off rapidly again didn't feel consistent for me. Also this movie tries to be authentic with the history of New York & the civil war - but on the other hand they make fighting & killing in the streets look like a fun weekend activity. And what disturbs me the most: I still don't know what they were fighting about!
Anyway the set's & the acting were very convincing. But I have to say, except for revenge there is no meaning & no development of anything - so I gotta give this one a thumb's down.
