Fundamentally, it is a story that deals with the concept of humanity, what makes us human and what differentiates machines from us. Starting from that premise, Pluto has a very powerful first chapter where all the right buttons are touched to reinforce its message. Unfortunately, the first chapter is the peak of the story and it only gets worse from here.

The entire series is incredibly predictable from start to the point where you can know exactly in what order the murders will happen, it suffers from having excessively expository and inorganic dialogues, and many of its characters, more than living beings, feel like plot devices to expose some point of the story to the viewer.

The plot develops in a subpar way, since there are few characters who act according to what the situation requires, in many instances ignoring logical decisions just so that the plot can progress in the way that the writer wants. Come to the end, Pluto has possibly one of the most predictable and overused climaxes I've ever seen, as well as a last-minute villain (certain super computer) that no one told us about.

Despite everything, the show has remarkables technical aspects that would be one of the few things in which it stands out. Nevertheless, series like Fullmetal Alchemist, Ghost in the Shell or Gundam are better at exposing their points about humanity or war, and build up interesting scenarios around them.
