Suits

Season 7

Overall a mixed season with some good and some underwhelming elements. Harvey and Mike's relationship is the best its been and very enjoyable, perhaps the season with the most stand out soundtrack and music choices (which is always a strength of the show but it stood out more here), and a genuinely very good bittersweet finale that actually made me a little teary eyed for the first time in this series. But some of the old issues with the show are back, particularly the balance of side characters isn't the best. I absolutely love Katrina and was really happy to start getting more of her here, but Alex falls victim to being another side character that they just don't know how to fully utilize yet. Louis also seems to be getting a lot of side character treatment again and I want more out of him than comedic and silly side plots, even if they often are hilarious. I didn't feel like the finale needed to spend so much time in Chicago focusing on Jessica, it just felt weird as she has been gone for a while now. Clearly just trying to set up her spinoff which is a bit annoying. This season also had a lot of flashbacks, which happen in every season, but there was a lot here and they didn't always feel necessary. So a decent amount of issues, but the emotional beats worked well and I care enough about the characters to have a good time still. Quite curious how the show will fare in its final two seasons without Mike and Rachel. I do really like a lot of the other characters so I don't doubt I will still enjoy the show, but this did feel like it could've been a good place to just end things.

7.0/10 -- Good
