Exactly like in the next episode The Muse, I find it hard to believe that they are tricked that easy. In the next episode The Muse Jake will mingle with an obviously unhealthy acquaintance. In this episode, both Jake and his father are tricked way too easily again. I mean Jennifer is gorgeous and I'm sure that her appearance has quite a disorientating effect on a personal and emotional level, but as grown-ups and caommanding officer you should be more cautious. I mean they know that they are pirates, renegades, terrorists and occassionaly cooperate with a cruel dictator. And they know that they are not shy away from abducting people. And yet, they seem to be totally unconcerned until it's actually too late.

However, we still should not take the mirror universe episodes too seriously. Stakes are high. Yes. That's true. Ben's and Jake's lifes are at stake after all. And thus DS9 manages to intertwine both universes (they do better in later installments) and tell an emotional story about the Sisko family that started all the way back in episode 01x01. But for the most part, parallel universe episodes in general, and this episode particularly feel isolated. But they are often great fun because they offer the opportunity for writers to leave the limits of canon and for actors to experiment. You can feel how much fun they must have had.

It's an exciting and entertaining story and I'm glad that they produce the occasional episode set in this universe with its very own story arch. A 6/10. If they somehow found a way to intertwine both universes better, it would probably be a 7/10.
