Robin Hood: Men in Tights 1993

From writer/director Mel Brooks comes the outrageous parody film Robin Hood: Men in Tights. Though mainly a riff on Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, there are some nods and allusions to other Robin Hood films as well. There are also spoofs on The Godfather, JFK, Malcolm X, and Home Alone. Starring Cary Elwes, Richard Lewis, Tracey Ullman, and Dave Chappelle, the film has a solid comedic cast. However, it’s pretty slapsticky, with a lot of sight gags that are hit and miss. Yet while Robin Hood: Men in Tights delivers some fun laughs, it’s one of Mel Brooks’ weaker films and not as sharp and witty as his previous works.
