It is honestly the best that I think Star Wars has been under Disney's possession, and I attribute that to the fact that the showrunners, the cast, everyone involved just seems to want to tell a story. No one is concerned with relating the events of Andor to a jedi somewhere, no one is making references to the mainline series, it's its own story, centered around its own characters, and relating especially to how these smaller groups of people are fed up with the Empire. It's fucking awesome.
Every episode is able to tie itself up pretty well, save for a couple early on, but the fact that each episode actually feels like a natural, smaller story in the overall larger story really helps it out, considering that I don't think any other Star Wars show, like Kenobi, or the Mandolorian seasons (I have not watched Book of Bobby Feet yet) have really found their footing in that. Those episodes feel overly drawn out single-episode narratives to fill runtime, or just are straight up filler that really serve no purpose in the longer run of things.
Andor doesn't do that, not one bit. Almost every moment feels like it needs to be watched, every character has their own story, their own struggles, and you care about them. They're remarkably relatable, and understandable, even on the Empire side of the stories. There's just so much nuance here that goes a long way to help aide the universe.
Don't let me forget about just how this show looks, cause nothing about this looks cheap in any way. The sets are amazing, cinematography is so good, the music is awesome, and I really really love just how much passion this show has behind it. Save for a couple of sloggish episodes at the beginning, I'm so ready for more of this.
Easily the best Star Wars has been under Disney, and probably the best since Empire Strikes Back. I will stand by that, watch this show.
